Professor Goldenberg is great. He is a normal person and isn't full of himself or overly critical.

He's very knowledgeable, which is both good and bad. He gives very comprehensive lectures and he is a pro at the subject, but he's a bit intimidating when it comes to asking him questions. At the end of the day, he is caring and cooperative. He wants his students to pass, but they have to do the work.

Highly recommend this professor. The textbook was pretty horrible, there are open book single free response question quizzes every Friday, the tests are 2 short essays. He gives out a review sheet and has an in-class review session. Really knows how to teach and run a class properly, also has a nice sense of humor. One of the bests at Stony Brook!

Professor Goldenberg wants his students to do well and he shows this by letting you rewrite your papers as many times as you want for a higher grade, He is also very helpful and really spends time explaining the things that can be changed in papers in a nice way. A wonderful professor

It doesn't get any better than this professor. He wants you to do well. he lets you re-write you papers as many times as you want to get a better grade, no books, all research on your own. He's also very nice and charming. everyone else who complained is just lazy. Take his class!!!

Any good reviews of this professor must be a mistake. DO NOT TAKE ANY OF HIS CLASSES! Teaching method? He has none! Lots of reading? UNDERSTATEMENT! We had 7 books = $$$$$!! You will regret if you sign up for this course. He is not open-minded, helpful, or kind. 5 page paper every week! He assumes everyone has previous knowledge of Judaism. Awful!!

For the particular class that I took, I can say I would never take a class by this professor again if I have anything to say about it. He was mediocre in every sense of the word. His tests involved topics that weren't well covered in class (and I never missed a class and took excellent notes for the class and hw) and he graded the tests harshly.

I LOVE Professor Goldenberg. Amazing teaching methodology. If you're not interested in the class, can't follow directions well for papers and don't like to read--don't take the class. Otherwise, please do! I've taken 2 classes with him & loved them! No prior knowledge of judaism needed for the class and he does NOT favor the Jews. I'm not Jewish

I took his 401 class and his 390 class and I felt like I had to create a membership just to give him a good rating. One of the most helpful and interesting professors out there, if you want to learn. If you are willing to do even an ounce of work or just generally interested in the topic you will get an A (and learn stuff).

I had high expectations for this class. I think this class was interesting until he taught it. He rambles on and sometimes his information does not reflect the textbook or course packet he assigns. Also, his grading is bias. It depends on whether he likes you or not. I get high grades from the TA but the prof just keeps bumping it down and gives Cs

cool guy - he knows when to joke around and when to be serious. its a good class for a dec requirement. he was always available through email or office hours if needed. he was very helpful with the research paper we had to write that he gave us the whole semester to work on. there is a good amount of reading but if you go to class youll be fine

the class was pretty interesting. Can be boring at times, especially since its at 9:35. his tests are not that bad. Overall i enjoyed the class- he is very nice and very helpful- he is always willing to help you if you have a problem, and the way he does the term paper is good. i would reccommend this class.
