No wonder his rating is high, mine got deleted. Grading is terrible and is designed for students to do poorly. If you need help be prepared to get mocked and lectured at. Never take a class with him unless you are required. Rather than rewarding knowledge his curve punishes students right off the bat. Knows his stuff but terrible class.

Professor Steinfeld is a great professor. He explains topics very clearly, and extremely thoroughly, but he makes you work for it. He like to make you "read between the lines" for the real answer. But he genuinely makes you interested in property. Best class I took in my 1L year. Just be sure to speak VERY LOUDLY in his class.

Loved this class and learned a ton. Super smart prof, but dont ask a stupid question lol Exam is open book, but it might as well not be, since you have no time to look anything up.

If can't take the heat...stay out of his class. If you have something unintelligible to say, he'll let you know. But knows his stuff, explains when you need him too and def 1 of my fave profs at UB.

I think Steinfeld is hysterical and I've always found him extremely helpful. He's extremely sarcastic, so the senstive beware. Property is a tough subject I think he does a good job. I am pretty sure the final is going to kill me though...

I don't know if it's the teacher or material but it was rough. He moves fast! Get a review book at the beginning of the semester to help you clarify on your own, b/c I went to every class and did all the reading and felt lost the whole time.

Funny Guy but doesn't cover a lot of material. The material he does cover is covered about as thoroughly as possible though.

First rate. He moves slowly and makes sure that students understand the material. Not critical to get outlines as others have indicated. Take good notes, study them and you'll do fine.

Very hyper, kept adding variables to the problems until I was totally confused. Refused to meet with individual students. I received a B but won't take him again. Not helpful.

Fun to watch, you definitely won't be bored. (Until he goes over Q's, but even then, if you pay attention it's a BIG help). Frequently funny, def. knows his stuff and definitely explains it very well. Very competent teacher, and I would take him again w/o hesitation.

Unless things have changed since 1998-2001, be prepared to teach the material to yourself. Do not depend on this professor for help. Actually, that's excellent advice when dealing with most of the UB Law profs.

He is exactly what every 1st year student needs in a 1st year professor. He teaches you how to read slowly and actively. He impresses on his students the importance of reading discerningly. Study and pay attention in class and the effort will pay off.

Don't be afraid of Property, or of Steinfeld. The material is some of the most difficult to master in the first year, but he is easygoing. He evades answering questions, true, but you should have heard some of the STUPID questions people asked. Cripes. I am going to take him for Labor Law.

His time off started with a month of wandering around. By October he found a stride and started acting like a learned prof. He will not respond to questions outside of class even when promised. I would take an upper level course with him. Outlines for him are essential. Take one with and follow it
