Comment:

Possibly the best professor Ive taken at UNF. Hes very engaging with his lectures and truly cares about your understanding of the material. We had three tests, 9 quizzes (I think), an article review paper, and an extra credit assembly assignment. If you have the chance to take any course from him before he retires, I highly recommend him.

Comment:

Great professor. Knows his stuff. Generally conveys material in an understandable manner. This class was difficult and very time consuming. I easily put in over 100 hours on the 5 projects. I would advise not taking any other rigorous courses alongside compilers.

You have to work hard on the projects - it will require effort. Regardless, he's the best professor (and Computer Science professor) I've ever had in my life. And I've had him for 3 classes.

Comment:

Very few answers to quizzes and exams can be found in the text book. Some of the answers are not covered very well in his lectures. Roger Eggen does a good job at not putting his students to sleep by telling many short unrelated stories within most of his lectures. His testing material is much tougher than his teaching material, which isn't easy.

Good instructor but easily sidetrack. Be forewarned, his tests have been made long in advance, had several students in my class that liked to sidetrack the instructor on the theory that we would cover less material. The tests did not change, only the amount of time covering the material did.

Excellent Professor. One of the best...correction, "The BEST" professor I have come across in my lifetime. He is very approachable, will take the time to help you out with problems. Works with you if you had to miss a test for a legitimate reason. He is truly out there to help you get your degree. I would take all my courses with him if I could!

THE BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. You can tell from his teaching methods that he is enthusiastic about his class. I had him over the summer so because of longer hours per class, he would give a little break and cheers up his students. Be there for all his classes because his quizzes are based on his lectures.

Hands down one of the best profs at this school. 100% approachable and enjoyable. Too many teachers have no real experience with the subject in order to properly teach it outside the book. Eggen is the exception, his enthusiasm inspires.

Was a good summer semester, most of the class passed and did well. Professor Eggen is a wonderful instructor, I wish some *other* instructors I knew from a previous life could have been more like Eggen. You do your projects, study for the tests, be respectful... Everything will go right. Don't complain about new material - That's why you're here!

This guy is amazing, very funny, and approachable. His class is set to be challenging but not impossible. Quizzes and tests are straightfoward so long as you keep up with everything being taught. Most of what you learn is by his great lectures and little to do with the book. His lectures are worth coming to though. Wish I could take him again

Dr. Eggen is an exceptional professor, his class in not particularly easy but he clearly explains concepts and I've never had a teacher who cares more about his students than Dr. Eggen, I only wish that more CIS teachers were of this caliber...he's got some funny stories too there's never a dull moment in his class, would RECOMMEND to anyone!
