Hardest professor I've ever had. Assigns several chapters from multiple books every day, along with videos and writing assignments. I spend more time doing work for his class than all my other classes combined. If you're ok with constant work, take classes with him. If not, avoid VanDeveer at all costs

The problem with this class is that on his tests he randomly incorporates topics from all of his reading. I mean that's more than a hundred pages of reading and you don't even know what to study. Those readings include articles and the book. He doesn't even give a study guide and the class i took was intro level. At least he curves...

He assigned a lot of reading, so if you can not handle that I would not recommend Professor Vandeveer. He made a point to learn all of our names even in a class of 70 and was funny although he was extremely knowledgeable of the subject and could explain extensively. Overall great professor.

Prof. Vandeveer's more advanced classes are dense with reading. He requires that you mirror this in your writing by requiring you write 3 page papers about intensely complex topics. The volume of work and reading that you will work through is explained up front as "graduate level work". Doing well means you can hack it @ the graduate level.

I've taken three classes with Stacy, all of them have tons of reading and lots of papers, but are by far the best classes I took at UNH. Amazing professor, if keep up with the work and just try, you will get an A in the end, even if your individual assignment grades are lower. Such a nice guy too.

Wow the amount of work in the class (intl environmental policy) is unbelievable. 8 books and millions of articles. A near impossible 25 page research paper. He is brillant and funny, but completely unrealistic with the amt of work. Expect to spend a minumum of 16 hrs a week on the work for class.

Very interesting class. Can be easy if you keep up with the reading ( I didn't, and my grade showed it) He likes to sneak in little reading quizzes when you aren't expecting them so you really have to read, even though its like over an hour of reading for each class. Also, the geography quizzes are a really good grade booster as long as you study.

While this class was certainly a lot of reading, very dense, almost graduate level reading, it really pushed me to see what I was capable of. In saying this it is important to note that the class is far from impossible. He is a great teacher, and I'm taking more POLT classes with him not only for my love of politcs but because he is a great prof!

Prof Vandeveer is very knowledgable and he is really nice, class was so easy getting an A was like stealing candy from a baby. Take the three hour ones with him, he always lets you out nearly an hour early and you get a break at the hour and a half pt.
