the only issue i had is there is little to no structure to how he teaches. his class is purely lecture with no powerpoint. If he says anything that you think is important then write it down it will help you later. whenever he does jot things down on the board be sure to write them down as well. take a lot of notes and you will be fine!

I personally loved this class! Prof. Berg is obviously knowledgeable in his field. Prof. Berg is also a little chaotic. His class isn't really structured. He listed 4 textbooks, but we only used two because we made only made it to two readings. His class is all lecture. Take good notes on EXACTLY what he says. He will help you if you ask.

He goes very slowly through the books required. Make sure to bring your book to class, hell want you to get it out. Consider recording the lectures because what he says in class is what he wants on the papers. There are only 4 grades in the class so if you dont understand something ask questions. Many people got a C on the first paper.

Dr. Berg is very knowledgeable in his field, however, he lectures for the entirety of class. He is kind of all over the place during lectures, just take notes and youll be fine. There are only 4 assignments for the semester and he is a tough grader. Hell give you good feedback though and let you redo the essay if the grade is low enough.

Berg knows what he is talking about talking about. We had two exams and final with two papers in the class. He goes over the material in class slowly so you can understand it. Willing to meet with students individually to help with the papers.

Comment:
Dr. Berg's lectures are long and sometimes tend to be confusing when compared to the material, but he also more or less provides a word-for-word indicator of what to put down for his exams. He'll do study sessions where he reads the questions for his test, then will explain the questions and give you the answers. Bring a recorder and you'll do fine

Comment:
Dr. Berg isn't very good at providing clear grading rubrics, and his lectures can be rather confusing. But if you want to do well in the class you should ask a lot of questions and give your interpretations of the reading. He's not the best at teaching the material on its own. But if you participate in the lecture you'll get a lot more out of it.

Comment:
He's a passionate guy but is incredibly old school and very lecture heavy in the classroom. The assignments and what was taught in class seemed disorganized and how he grades you particularly on papers is rather annoyingly nitpicky. It's not a particularly horrible class but the lecture's lackluster and grading can be frustrating.

Comment:
The class is very lecture heavy and is very disorganized as far as when different assignments are due. A majority of the class was spent going over the dialogues that were required, so by the end of the semester he crams all of the assignments that are in the syllabus together. He's a very nice guy but the class is awful.

Dr. Berg is fantastic. He's very passionate about his field and a wonderful teacher who definitely holds interest. I've had him for 2 classes and each time it was my favorite class of the semester. No education at Bellarmine is complete without having Dr. Berg at least once.
