I passed my ed TPA and teaching exams because of the great student teaching experience that I had with Susan. She is helpful and is an excellent cooperating teacher, Seems like all of the complainers don't want to do any work or didn't pass their exams. And FYI all teachers give out treats.

Comment:

Nedra and Susan are always on their phone. They have walked out of the room while students are presenting. How can you give a proper grade if you are not in the room? I did everything they asked for and still did not receive an A+! I also had Susan for student teaching. WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! Stay away from P.S 235 with Givner!!!

What a semester with these 2! Class=boring, they call you out if you are on your phone; Although Nedra is ALWAYS on her phone! They share to each other their text & are always talking about their day at work. Very difficult to get an accurate answer from them Ex: how many journals needed. I got 100% on everything & got an A rather A+ FAIR WARNING!

I thought the assignments were very fair. It is unreasonable to think that any instructor will answer you back the second that you e-mail. I think both Nedra and Susan,the instructors were professional and helpful. Don't listen to all of the complainers. I learned a lot in this course. If you do your work, you will get a good grade.

Were we in the same class? Prof. Givner is a very knowledgeable instructor. With over 22 years of teaching experience Prof, Givner tells it like it is. I don't think she is picky. She is trying to prepare you for the realities of the DOE. If you want to learn about being an effective educator you should take this course!

Their grading system is ridiculous. They are inconsistent about what they say in class, and what they actually expect. They are detail oriented, which could have been a good thing, but they are un-believably nit-picky. They play favorites in class and grade unfairly. Avoid if you can.

Here are just a few things from this semester. They hardly reply to emails, they are unprofessional (reading texts aloud to each other in class, cell phones going off every class), changing rubrics AFTER assignments have been handed in, uploading assignments way later than promised, inconsistent grading--just to name a few.

While the class itself was easy, I had a problem with the way they graded. I had a near perfect average (82/85)until the final which was 15% of the grade. I ended up with a B+, which I am not happy with, even if I got half of the final wrong, in which case I should have gotten an A-, but not a B+. As far as teachers, they are all right.

She is an excellent teacher! I learned a lot from this class. Let me make things clear since there are so many unbelievably wrong comments. They (Professors Givner & Nedra) role play when they teach. They want you to see the differences between the traditional and constructivist approaches to teaching (great for future teachers).

Take them! The class is not hard, although you must invest a lot of time in completing the assignments EFFICIENTLY. There's no need to read the textbook until before the midterm and final. They tell you which chapters to focus on. They give you a review too. Study the whole list. Do the assignments ON TIME and accurately, go to class and study!!

I don't know what these people are talking about. She really knows how to teach. There's a lot of work to do (considering how many points the assignments are worth), but they aren't difficult (just long). wonderful professor and constantly refers to textbook but gives reallife example from her experiences. Writing assignments are important and so are the exams. Not an easy a but definitely a great way to learn how to teach science to children.

Why on earth would they have these two adjuncts teaching this ONE course. They are a joke for the Ed Dept. I have NEVER had two adjuncts like this. Tasimonwicz sits in the front of the classroom like a queen and gives dirty looks to the class. PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE, STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLASS. THEY ARE AN EVIL TEAM.
