Mme Bellocq definitely is very knowledgeable and passionate about what she teaches. If you do the work and make an effort to do it well, you'll learn a lot. However, she leaves it up to you as to whether you choose to work hard to learn something or just get by with the minimum to learn next to nothing.

I had Dr. Bellocq for Fren 111, 226, and 300.1. Great teacher, very knowledgeable about not only the French language, but many other historical events as well. Very helpful! Very insightful, and very passionate about her profession. I had no prior French before college, and I must say: Non, je ne regrette rien!!!

I had her a couple of years ago for this class. I loved French in high school and considering minoring in it, but after her class, I changed my mind. However, she loved me though I sat in the back and never made eye contact. When she asks you to dress up, DO IT. I had a sweet costume, I think that's why she wound up LOVING me though I did nothing.

She is very nice, and helpful. However, class can become kind of confusing because of the way that she teaches. She has a very quiet voice, so listening is kind of hard. Be ready for a lot of speaking and getting called on.

Very easy class, not much required to get a B. You will learn how to draw a map of France and Paris in class, everything else is learned from the book back at your dorm. Very different way of learning french than in high school. Recommended for those looking to complete the language requirement, not for majors. DELAWARE EST SPLENDIDE!

Dr. Bellocq has a very unique style, one that embraces students who are truly interested in learning the language and culture. If you simply want to pass her class you will not learn much and have a negative attitude about her style. But, if you push yourself it will truly pay off. She is truly a gem of a teacher.

VIVE LA FRANCE! Dr. Bellocq is an extremely kind and passionate prof...but her method is slightly lacking. It's hard to know what she wants and where she's going. But you can be sure to draw the map of France at least once per semester.
