Really easy class for me. Lectures include a half hour review of the previous session. He goes slow and uses good examples. It can get boring at times, but useful. Weekly homeworks only have a few questions and really help you understand how to work through problems. I was well prepared for the midterm and final. Really good prof (:

M/C on the Midterm and Final are straight from lecture, memorization is key. Computational portion of the Midterm and Final similar to the homework, so doing the homework correctly does wonders. Exam scores were broken down: 20 pts for m/c and 50 for computations, and 25 for m/c and 50 for computations for the Midterm and Final, respectively.

None of the test questions are tricky. They are all fair representation of what was taught in class. The multiple choice questions are sometimes more conceptual and may require more memorization. Overall, this professor is good and gives very detailed explanations to all questions.

This professor is very patient and tries to make sure his students are asking questions during or after lectures. His tests are pretty fair. As long as you study the formulas and lecture slides, youd be fine.

Rickards lecture style is not friendly to those who have never taken a statistics class before. He basically lectures the textbook and simply explains what equations are used for and to memorize it, rather than teaching students to think critically and understand the process.

I really enjoyed Dr. Rickard's class. His lectures are super interesting and PSYC191 ended up being one of my favorite classes as it was not only interesting but also relevant. His exams were very detail-oriented, but also extremely straightforward and based directly from his slides. Overall very interesting and cool prof/class!

pretty good prof. kinda hard to understand sometimes due to his alabama accent. but tries to make things understandable, walks through problems with class during lecture. would be better if he podcasted to review for final and midterm.

Sleep Psychology is super interesting but this professor was alright. The class consists of two midterms, one final, dream and sleep logs, and SONA participation. No readings, just lecture notes posted online. For some reason most people would do fine on the exams, however I always did poorly. I reached out for help, but it didn't really help.

Boring Class. Though sleep psychology is a fascinating topic, not much materials are covered in the lecture. Professor seems not to be super familiar with that research field. Easy exams.

Thought this class would've been a good GPA booster, but ended up getting an A-. Yes, I am salty, but I honestly put in a lot of effort into this class. I did all the weekly homework (got full scores on most of them) and attended all discussion sections. IMO, if I took psyc 60 with another prof like Beth Lowe, I would've gotten that A. Good luck!

I took this class over the summer and really enjoyed it, it was fascinating stuff. There is no book and questions on the exams are pulled straight from the lectures. If you study the lectures (including small details) and take note of things the prof points out then you should be fine.

I had great notes and did study for his tests it just seemed impossible to remember every single detail and the tests were super detailed that you cant help but miss 6-10 questions per test and the whole class is 2 midterms and a final anyways, that was it. Lectures were so boring and studying didn't pay off at all.

He has a slight lisp, murmurs a bit, and clears his throat often. Still understandable though. But he was half an hour late to the final.. He has typed up transparency slides for notes. The class was pretty easy though! The second half after the midterm is more difficult than the first. Textbook isn't required, and sections are super helpful!

Got an A in Ochem, A- here. Should speak volumes. This class is tricky. The material is ridic easy, but dont be fooled: the tests will be effective at weeding out those who didn't read or pay close attention. Take it seriously, and u will get an ez A. If you let it out of hand because it seems easy, you will have fallen in the trap.

I am not a math whiz at all, but by going to Prof Rickard's amazingly helpful lectures and doing the not- so- hard homework, I became a statistics enthusiast. The midterm and final are pretty tough, so keep track of your progress and prepare! The HW was very helpful, and the lectures were funny and great. Bonus: He looks like Matthew McConaughey.

Overall, Tim is a great professor. Although the concept in this class is quite hard, he explains it clearly enough. If you attend every class, you will pass the exam.

Dr. Rickard is one of the best professor I have ever had at UCSD. If you go to class and pay attention, you will do well in the class. He is extremely approachable and willing to help if you utilize his office hours. He is extremely funny and always tries to keep the class interesting. Take him! He's a great teacher!

Gets straight to the point. Audible and clear during lecture. Attendance isn't mandatory however he DOES NOT post lectures online. Grade made up by one midterm, one open note final (50%), & HW (10%). You get the grade you earn, he does not curve!
