Very slow grader. No way to know how you are doing in the class until it is over. The class was sort of interesting. The book had some good stuff but seems to have been written by someone who is easily offended by jokes. 3 papers and a group project. No test.

She's disorganized, but because of that she cancelled like 1/4 of the assignments. There's two easy 2-3 page essays and one 5-6 page term paper. There's a bunch of discussions and a lot of reading assignments--honestly you don't really need to read all of them. The semester is over but she's literally graded only two things. Unsure, but probable A

Prof. Velcic is the reason I became a CWL major. She is so passionate and believed in me before I even really knew her. Because of this, I took CWL365 and gained a new appreciation for various aspects of culture and theory. She is disorganized at times, but so am I. She cares so much. I would take a class with her in a heartbeat.

She seemed really unorganized. Inconsistent weekly postings. Did not follow syllabus. With that said, she did drop a few assignments since she was not consistently up to date. Seemed like the class wasn't important to her. No tests. Easy A. But there's a group project which is difficult bc its an online class. Lots of reading but its manageable.

Very boring course. Would not recommend if you're taking the class for the comparative WORLD literature aspect of it because we really only study European lit. Not many assignments, you can miss class but need to attend at least 70 percent of the time for credit.

I took a couple classes from her, and wouldn't mind more. One of the more human profs out there, and although a little spacey, incredibly approachable. Yes, classes can get a little boring, but attendance also isn't strict. I'd rather have it that way than ridiculous expectations. Do some reading when you need to, and it'll be an easy pass.

We did group presentations and she couldn't even remember who presented on what. She asks questions to the class and probably just one student responds. She pushes due dates back which made it hard to track progress. Not only will she give you an in-class midterm but she makes it annoying by adding a take home portion as well. I wouldn't recommend.

I could relate to the previous post. I do not feel like she was helpful at all, and I spent the entire semester bored out of my mind. I would not recommend her nor would I take her again. As the other post said she bounces around way to much & for me that made it difficult to understand what was going on or be motivated to keep up.

Skipped around in class way too much to focus on anything. I feel like I can't keep track of where she's at or sync up to her thoughts because there's a lack of communication. She does love the material she teaches but that has seemed to make the skipping around worse. MUST READ the material in order to know what she's talking about/ participate

Vlatka is a very genuine person and a professor who will go out of her way for students. She is approachable and helpful and enthusiastic about the material. Class time was not always used wisely though and discussions would go on far too long, causing the class to fall behind. Overall, I enjoyed her classes because she was always encouraging.

She's the cutest thing ever! I have never laughed so hard in a class before. The course is reading/writing heavy and sometimes she's not totally clear on what is expected or due dates, but I loved the class.

Very easy going and lenient. Does not stress on due dates. She is funny and you learn a lot from her. Even though the concepts and ideas in this class were a bit hard to grasp, I learned a lot from her and appreciate her as an instructor!

You'll do fine if you read the material and books, which the papers are based on (most of the papers are short and not hard to write at all). You do have to participate in the forum discussions. There's a group project too. I ended up liking the class a lot when I didn't think I would. She kinda lagged on grading, though.

2 midterms, 2 take home essays, 1 final, and an oral presentation are the class requirements. Velcic is a very nice, intelligent professor, but she lacks organization and structure. Be prepared to see her go off on many tangents that detract from class time!

The class is boring, she really wants you to analyze the readings and find some imaginary deeper meaning from them, and if you are wrong about the interpretation you will not pass. Really nice lady though. 2 exams, 1 group project, 1 research paper. Do not take this class if you are expecting an easy capstone. Biggest mistake ever...

Cultural Studies is difficult and applying the concepts to textual analyses is a pain in the butt. Anyway, she is pretty lenient overall and does not want to give her students bad grades. Generous grader, but you still have to do the work to get a good grade. 3 papers, midterm, final, and oral presentation on a critic are what she requires.

Dr. Velcic is a nice professor who is generous when it comes to grading. She tends to push back deadlines to keep everyone on the same page. 3 portfolio assignments and 3 exams. Although she is a generous grader, it doesn't mean she'll give out easy As to just anyone. You actually have to do your work with effort to get an A or B.

Super easy class! Just do the readings as much as you can and try to understand what's going on in each of them. No need to memorize! She is super understanding and interesting.
