walks you through the hw. exams are same as hw. read his notes, understand the main concepts + the hw get an A. he's helpful in office hrs. if he sees you're trying, he'll let you turn in hw late. I thought the exams were easy but some ppl didn't. 2 midterms + 1 final 85% of grade. go to class, he'll say what will & won't be on the exam

Best teacher I've taken yet. Aside from having many years on his, the professor is clear and helpful. The class consisted on three exams and a final. The best part is that the exam questions are a replica of the notes taken in class, so if you study (memorize) the problems you will be fine. I recommend this class.

Dr. Gearhart is a great professor -- extremely knowledgable and passionate about the subject. Go to class and do the homework on WebAsssign and you will at least pass. I did all of that, and studied for tests and got an A+ in the class. Take Dr. Gearhart, you'll love him.

Took him over the summer. He really understands calculus and is motivated to help students understand. Calculus is hard!! But if you listen to him, study, and really do all the homework problems you will do ok. He is very nice and patient with slower learners, he wants to make sure everyone understands. Recommended!

Dr. Gearhart is one of the premiere mathematics professors on campus. He grades extremly fair on the exams, I swear it must take him 45 mins to do one. He teaches the material well and is always open to questions. He also boosts your grade slightly if you try hard and show interest in the course. I haven't got my grade yet but I'm on route for an A

I just took Gearheart Fall 2009. He is a pretty hard teacher. The class only has 3 exams and a final and there are about 5 questions for each exam. All the questions on the exam are based off the questions he does in the class, book, and webassign. If you have interest in math and go visit him during his visit hours!

Very difficult teacher, try to avoid. Makes a lot of mistakes and skips steps making learning the difficult material hard. Doesnt teach theory, just does lots of examples on the board.

At first his lectures were a bit foggy, since he has a bad habit of skipping steps while teaching new material. The trick is to ask questions so that lectures are more comprehensive. The tests are only 4-5 questions so study hard!!!

took him in summer and it was hard as hell. rarely goes over concepts and just does a lot of examples on that topic. you have to teach yourself some methods that he doesnt cover. tests are pretty hard and very short, so STUDY!!!ended up with a C bc i got a B on the final and tht final was hard. you have very little room for error in his class

very easy teacher but learn little to nothing. He only had few large questions with multiple parts so you gotta know little bite of everything, even something he only talked about once. Funny and relaxing got a B without studying much

His exams only had about 4 to 5 problems, screw one problem up, you screw it all. He would tell us to try our best and he's take care of us, but he didn't =(

At first, it would seem the semester is going to be twice as long with the way he lectures. But once it gets going and people participate, the class flies by. He is very knowledgeable and has a subtle sense of humor. The tests are average in easiness and his lectures are mostly examples with not too much theoretical jibba jabba. Recommended.

An... entertaining man, I suppose, but not exactly a skilled at getting difficult subject matter across to his students. Despite seeking help most every day before class, the tests were still mindblowingly difficult. I've always been an outstanding math student including taking the 1st half of Calc in HS, but this instructor/class combo killed me.

I did not learn a thing in this class. I felt like everyday was a waste of time. Gearhart is nice, but he does not explain things well. The tests were easy with the exception of the final which came out of no where.

I would say that Dr. Gearhart is the best professor in mathematics department. He really knows that material and explains crystal clear. He motivates students to study and get interested with mathematics. I liked his lectures. If there is a chance, I would like to take whatever courses that he teaches in the future. Thank you Dr. Gearhart!
