Comment:

Great professor! He's very knowledgeable and always prepared for class. His lectures are very boring. He gives no homework and his midterm and final papers are very easy. The midterm was a 5 page paper and the term paper was a 10 page paper. He gave us a prompt but he let us choose what we wanted to write about

UNCLEAR in expectations for assignments yet VERY particular about what he wants. Gives vague instructions that require different interpretations based on based on paper topic. Allows you to revise your paper but will penalize your final grade bc it required revision. Helpful after the fact not before. Rude and condescending. Berates his students.

Comment:

Prof. Vitale is an amazing prof. I had him for Blacks & the Criminal Justice System and I have learned a lot in addition to the prior knowledge I had about the subject. The class was very informative and eye opening about crime and life in urban neighborhoods. Taking this class, raised my interest about issues surrounding the title of the course.

He was good and very smart. He helps students to achieve high standards by giving you many opportunities to rewrite your essays. This was more helpful then just giving you a grade for the first one.

Prof. Vitale means well, but can be too serious at times. Attendance is a big stickler for him as is class participation. He offers extra credit, but it's very inconvenient and/or time-consuming. The final paper for his class will make you want to drop out, so I suggest starting it asap. If you can stay awake in class, you'll do ok.

Professor Vitale is a great professor and he cares about sociology and his students,. If you are an academic and care about your education, this is the professor to travel with. He was my advisor and mentor and he has been awesome with me. He expects you to work, to be good at what you do and tobe able to write. He is too serious but that is ok.

Class is three papers--two short ones than an 8-10 page research paper. He pretty much tells you exactly how to do the first two, and you can do the research paper on any area in crime. As long as you follow directions and can write a decent essay, you're good. Class is interesting and he answers any questions you have. There is also extra credit.

although he is a rough grader, he does take the time to explain all the things he wants in the essay. he's very approachable in terms of asking questions and kind of encourages it. all his tests are paper reports, so be prepared to write...and write well.

He's a good prof. Very nice, his speeches are a lil boring. Only have 4 essays to do during the semester. He grades easy. If u study alot and read u'll pass the class.He won't mind if u come to class late.
