Very knowledgable about computers. Even tells you in depth how certain things can be applied outside of the field of computers. But this can lead to lengthy talks and little time to go over crucial details. You will need to love computers if you want to do well, (Espec. if you want tips or freebees) I got a C with a few prior classes under my belt.

Computers can be difficult for me, however Ackerman took the time to help those who asked. He definitely knows what he's talking about. If you get in good, you can even get freebies sometimes. Good class, but even with an average understanding, I was out of my league on this one. C grade. It's better if you have an affinity for computers to pass...

Tends to ramble on a bit when giving lectures, but it often is given as a real world example of what to expect. Instead of going on for information he explains real world scenarios in which you would use that technique.

Long lectures, many labs, not enough time to finish them all. Needs to be bit more organize and considerate with lab time.

This class is a MUST attend if you want to pass. He assigns labs every week, and it is expected of you to finish the lab the day of or else you'll fall behind in class. He's always willing to help, IF you approach him. Lectures are LONG, boring, and unorganized.

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT take him if you are a beginner or you want to actually learn. for a 110 class, he treats you like your a scholar. If you want a somewhat easy A, then by all means take him but you'll probably just play games on the computer or fall asleep. you'll learn more from a book than from him 9/10 times. get the David L. Prowse book.

The Professor explains so much in each lecture, I get lost half the time. He hands out labs and then makes you wait for weeks to get them signed. would & wouldn't recommend. Take his course if you are really really experienced or else you will get lost easily.

Ackerman is an extremely knowledgeable professor. It's great to interact with a professional who's been in the industry for 40+ years and can explain in great detail the meticulous details of components and tips for troubleshooting. Definitely recommend taking his course in person to build your own computer. It's exciting how much you can learn.

He is interesting and a good lecturer, but that's about it. He would lecture too long and then we didn't have time to finish our lab. There was no make-up time for labs. You were expected to stay up to an hour after class to finish the lab. *Not acceptable* He is not approachable,he is very arrogant and doesn't care what you have to say.

Well it's just the 1st day but I like him and really had a grasp for the subject. He went over notes fast on board. Definiatly need 2 look over what u copied. I have an idea that he may write the notes on board incorrect on purpose. THINK ! use comp and book and trust in yourself. Remember u r not the ONLY 1 taking class, ask neighbor. I'd help !!

Although he does give a lot of homework and his lessons go on rather long and boring, many of the things he teaches you will remain with you for a long time. I am taking him again in the Fall, great teacher, he knows his stuff.

This instructor really cares about having all his students succeeding in this field. I took cit110 and cit111 all in the same day. And yes he makes you think(great) which is what we will have to do in the real world. Yes he gives lots of guestions(but isn't that what people will be asking when needing are help when we get into that field.

He gives extra credit but the way he wants it is very time consuming, spent 4 hours for 1 test corrections with other students.Dont bother asking for help on a assignments he expects you to figure it out on your own.If you disagree with him he'll get mad.Going over homework he jumps around too much on the questions, need a recorder!

Very good professor. Talking a lot! A lot! And he knows what he is talking about. There is not much time in class so You need to consider 5+ hours extra per week to catch up. Tests very hard, but open notes.
