Toburen uses daily, 3 question quizzes for attendance and for your grade. You never know if the questions are going to be on the reading material or the previous lecture, so you have to take notes and do the reading (short readings). I hated political science before, now I love it.

Quiz everyday, but no tests whatsoever. Go to class, make an A. He drops 3 lowest quiz grades, so you can miss a few. Keeps middle line with talking about politics, which makes for debating in class. Interesting.

We take a 4 question quiz every time we meet. If you come to class, listen to the lecture, and read the assignment you will make an A. On the days that a lot of people skip class he gives bonus points and he always drops your 2 lowest quizzes. He is very interesting... I'm pretty sure he?s a communist though haha.

I dont know why these people are talking about toburen as if he was easy. Ive taken Business Law with an a and nearly had a C in toburens class. I dropped with a c, i refuse a c in a social science class. He has no tests, only 4 point quizzes. Miss one you have a 75, basically impossible to get an a.

He is a pretty good teacher. His lectures are okay...pretty borin' at times. Not test just 3 point quizzes every class. All you gotta do is ready the reading assignments and study the notes to pass the quizzes.

I've taken every class Dr. Toburen offers, and he as an amazing teacher. I've never once seen him attack a student even when I could tell that he thought they were an idiot. I highly recommend him to anyone that wants to learn, and who isn't afraid to make a B in the process.

Dr. Toburen is known to be an extremely hard professor. He is only hard in regards to his grading system. The presentation of the materials is rather easy. Note-taking for this class is important, but he gives you all the court cases in packets. Every class period also has a quiz based on assigned reading.

404-Great instructor! Stimulates thought & discussion! Left wing but tries to back it up while allowing all other opinions and comments. Never stifles discussions or opinions. Anyone can speak their mind. 101- quiz each day on reading assgn. Pay atten. & you will be fine. If you don't come away with a broader outlook, then you are too stubborn.

First of all the soldier hadn't been to Iraq he went to afganistan (totally different)..Secondly, there were many people who got A's in his class, he respected others opinions but didn't hold back on his views either.Daily quizzes 3 questions from lecture and 1 from reading assignment , if you do your part it is not hard to make an A. TERRIBLE. Almost impossible to get an A with such few points. Can only miss a/b 5 points in class and still have A. Very liberal. Starts arguements in class and you cant win. He even told a soldier who has been 2 Iraq that he was wrong and ignorant and he didnt believe what he said. Bashes Repubs. all day. Never on time 2 class. Suprise roll checks

Respectful to other's opinions. He defends his beliefs without getting angry or being rude. He's liberal, and I have to say I found the republicans in the class to be rude and inconsiderate...I am ashamed to call myself a republican because of the way they acted towards him. No tests...daily quizzes and an occassional assignment. Little hard to get an A with such few points.

This class is the easiest Toburen class at Tech. There isn't alot of work. There are four papers that are basically summaries on the bulk of your articles. He wants all of these articles written in past tense; you'll lose your grade if you don't do it this way. Otherwise, all you do in this class is show up daily and discuss different topics.

He's a mediocre teacher - mainly writes notes on the board but still makes me learn a little - a 2 hour class with him is almost intolerable! This class is all essay and he is an EXTREMELY tough grader - write down everything you know and you'll get by with a C - maybe a B if you spend a lot of time studying for tests!

Your grade reflects your effort in class, except Modern Ideologies, where he's extremely hard. Yeah, he's a Socialist, but he respects and listens to other viewpoints (I later had professors who were absolutely intolerant of my conservative views). You current Poli Sci students should be grateful you missed now retired Dr. John Price, a NIGHTMARE professor!

Is very liberal. Get ready for your feeling to be stomped all over. He hates the Republican way and made me feel stupid for my beliefs. He is rude and an awful person. I wouldn't take him again unless I HAD to. I got a C without really trying though.
