Professor Mattord is a very serious person. She takes her class very seriously. Lots of work but not too difficult. Cant slack off in this class. She may come across as rude but she is helpful outside of class. Not terrible but not amazing.

Comment:

Professor Mattord was one of the most traditional and formal professors that I have ever had. She really should be teaching at Harvard, in my opinion. You must read the readings she assigns, and CONCEPTS are a major thing you must master if you want to do well on her exams. Buy extra blue books for her class, as you will do a lot of writing.

I am still currently taking British literature with Professor Mattord. I feel that she is an excellent teacher and goes above and beyond to make sure your understanding of the course is fluid. She is extremely passionate and it is clearly evident she enjoys what she does. I would take another class with her.

Comment:

This class should not be taken by adults who wish to be treated as such. Very boring, she makes excuses as to why she can't follow her own syllabus. All we did was study British poetry, with 2 instances of prose. I feel cheated. I would not recommend taking this class if you want to actually read about something other than poetry.

really nice lady. i took her during the summer and got a B. i had no interest in brit lit. but she made it interesting..she's very understanding, passionate and funny (in her own way). attndnce is a must. have one paper due and a presentation that u cant fail. have take home quizzez and closed book quizzes. i definitely recommend her.

took it over the summer and got a B! very passionate. she is sooo understanding for a professor. had one paper due and a presentation. attendance mandatory. gives closed book quizzes on readings and quizzes to take home that have to be answered in paragraph form. Great professor overall!!!

I found this class fairly difficult. She's very passionate about the subject but sometimes is hard to follow. She lectures relatively quickly and uses large words. Has a midterm and final which require a lot of memorization but she pretty much gives you the test in the study guide.

Very good instructor. She asks if anyone has questions and makes sure that the lecture has been clarified. Two Exams. Daily Quizzes that are easy, even if you did not read the assignment. No Papers, just Topic Proposal and Annotative Bibliography. Attendance is not mandatory, but it helps when she looks at grades.

not the best professor. sometimes its hard to understand what she wants. very inconsistant which is why it was hard for many people to follow her. sometimes she is rude. I personally didnt like her, which made it very hard to attend class, because i really hate lookin and listening to her.

Too much work!!! Too much writing!!! Too boring!! Avoid to take her class! Eng1101 = 6 group activities, 6 reading responses, 5 in-class writing, 2 major essays, and one big presentation!!! Damn! Too much work for eng1101!
