very hard test grader. If you don't take very GOOD notes recorded it. Her tests are very confusing. Very seldom will one of her test questions be easy. She likes using always, sometimes, never on her tests. Be prepared to be graded on assignments by a very detailed professor. She will find all your mistakes. She does provide good information.

Comment:

She has a great teaching method, she quizzes you on exactly what she mentions in her lectures. I RECOMMEND RECORDING ALL OF HER LECTURES. I cannot stress enough the importance of recording every single lecture, it is the best way to study for her tests. Also, make sure you have enough time to spend hours in the library completing the homework.

Comment:

Cathy Mestre is a good professor. I learned a lot and her logic behind everything she does makes so much sense because especially with the assignments, she makes sure you know how to do them perfectly because when you go to be a paralegal, you will have to know how to do them. HOWEVER, she is very very tough. Her tests are super hard aswell!

I've taken a few classes with Mestre - if you work hard you'll pass. Research assignment every week - one lecture (gives you notes/directions) & one library class to research. Make time to research inside and outside school for assignments, exams and sometimes there's only one book for assignments, can't stress this enough, that's why i passed.

She is not very helpful to her students. I was extremely disappointed in this class and professor. Her video lectures are extremely old which make studying for tests hard and confusing.

Mestre is extremely difficulty no matter the class. In general, she hands out a large note packet which she compliments with lectures; and demands you know it verbatim by exam time. In Legal Research 2, she gives a relatively brief lecture and gives an project which is reviewed next class, and due the following. There is a large final proj as well.

Ive taken multiple classes by this professor and she is my favorite! Come to class and take notes, you will not be successful if you dont. Record the lectures and re-listen to them before the exams. She tell you everything you need to know and you will have no trouble if you are careful and read the questions slowly. You will learn in her class!!

Mestre is an extremely tough and knowledgeable teacher. You NEED to attend all the classes to pass, as all tests are from notes (and given study guide). She will instruct you better than anyone else, but will also demand much of you. Outside forces, beyond emergencies, do not affect her high grading standards. Prepare for hard tests and homework.

I truly enjoyed her class. Yes she's tough. Yes she makes you work for your grade. But if you are taking this class for a law degree, having her would really make you see how bad you want it or not. Looking forward to having her again.

Absolutely horrible, do not take this class. Very few assignments for grading and poor instructions on how to do them. When you ask she will set you up for failure. The Midterm/Final are extremely hard, gives too many options for answers. Ex: all the above, none, A and C, C and B, just A. You have to study 24/7 . And will still fail.

Very nonstructural organization with assignments. If you are taking on a full course load and working to pay through school, she is not the professor for you. Her teaching method requires 100% attention, 100% of the time in order to pass her course.

Professor Mestre is not a professor that is here to hold you hand and get you through college, that it Your JOB. You want the Grade, you will listen, take notes, good notes, study and do the homework. Her classes are not hard, intense yes, but in the end you'll earn the grade that you worked for,

She is a great professor but you have to work hard in order to pass her class. There is no way you will pass a single test or assignment if you skip class, everything on the test is from class notes. She gives very hard tests and you have to think about everything you know and you really earned your grade.

Mestre is by far one of the most difficult professors I have ever had. In saying this, you learn so much from her that it is worth it. If you work hard in this class (legal research 1), you will pass it. Heavy lectures and quite a bit of library time for homework. The book helps TREMENDOUSLY and I recommend reading each chapter before every class.

I took 2 of her classes this semester, taking 2 next and i love her. She gives A LOT of information and you are expected to know ALL of it, but it is all practical and has real life applications. Yes, she is a tough grader, but not for arbitrary reasons. If you're looking for an easy A, this is not the class for you.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR!!!!! She was by far the hardest professor I've ever taken. She does not care about anything outside of her class and the harshest grader. I literally forgot to put a comma in a sentence and she took five points off. All the notes you take in class will be your study guides. She talks fast so try to keep up.

Prof. Mestre, is the hardest professor I have ever taken. However, this has easily become my favorite class I have ever taken. Professor Mestre is witty, intelligent, and challenging. if you are looking for a class to pass without working too hard do not take this class. However, if you are looking to improve your writing and learn, take it!

Extremely knowledgeable, great feedback and yes, she is STRICT in her grading. But after all it makes sense because the type of course you taking. Prepare to write a lot. Cathy Mestre's test are notorious for being hard, and they are.
