This professor is accessible outside class, she held office hours twice a week and we knew what to expect from the tests. If you give enough information on the exams, so she can see you paid attention to classes, that was enough! However, since presence is non-mandatory, people don't go, maybe that's where the bad reviews come from.

Prof. Peek is a really funny person. Her lectures are not mandatory but I never did any of the assigned readings so I just went to lecture for the information. The only things you are graded on is 2 papers and 3 exams so you have to do well on all of them in order to do well in the class.

Not very accessible outside of class. I even got an email saying that she would no longer be offering feedback to students needing help on our papers. I don't really feel like that's a good thing for a teacher to be doing especially this close to finals when we are all worried about all of our classes.

Interesting topic but boring teacher. Tests are all free response with pretty vague questions. I got marked down on a couple things because she felt I didn't expound enough on the topics, although I answered the question asked. It would have been nice if she could have clarified that she wanted a ton of detail for every question.

An incredible professor who really knows her stuff when it comes to Greek and Roman History. The reading load is fairly light for the most part, and even when it's not, Professor Peek always manages to make lectures entertaining. You can really tell that she values her students and their education most. Few writing assignments, a midterm and final.

I loved this class! Prof Peek is so knowledgeable and caring and always made learning about ancient history fun! This class requires that you do all the reading and really learn the material, but it was very enjoyable and she's very fair. She understands that a lot of people are taking this class solely as a GE credit.

One of the best people I've ever known. Funny, caring, understanding, witty, intelligent, and incredibly spiritual. Tips for the class: Attend class, and you won't have to do most of the readings. She gives you study guides at the beginning of the semester, so take notes using those from the start! Only assignments are 2 papers+ 2 midterms + final.

Best GE at BYU. Just listen in class, memorize what is said, and you will do great on the tests. She is super funny, which helps because I am not really into all of the reading we did. Read summaries before class and then read the part of the reading highlighted after class. No quizzes. Just tests and papers. You will do well if you put in effort.

I took the class Spring, so it was 2.5 hours long starting at 4:00 twice a week. Professor Peek is very aware of student needs. No busy work, but that means the grades for a few assignments (4) really matter. She is entertaining to listen to, gives you good information during lecture, and was nice enough to let us out of class early most days.

I really like Professor Peek. She's funny. I liked her lectures but they could be a little overwhelming sometimes. She tells you tons of information. Lectures are pretty much the tests so take good notes. Tons of readings as well, which is the only thing I didn't like about the class. The tests are really fair. Can do well on the tests. Just Study!

Two midterms, two papers, and one final. It is a straightforward class, a great class to take for your civilization credit, and she is very nice and lenient in grading. It is not just a "show up and get an A" class, but it is one of the more reasonable classes. She is very sweet too, and her lectures are kind of like story time sometimes!

One of my favorite professors at BYU (I've been here 6 semesters). Her lectures are very interesting and it is obvious that she loves teaching the material. There is a lot of reading, but she goes over the important parts in class and as long as you pay attention to that, you should be good. Very easy class (the only class I have an A in right now)

WOW does she know her stuff. The hard part about this class is that the lectures are long (even though she does her best to make things interesting) and you are graded on 2 papers and 2 midterms and then the final. The tests are SO hard to study for. Basically you are just trying to memorize your notes and everything she says in class.

Professor Peek is the best professor I've had. She is incredibly knowledgeable in and enthusiastic about her field. Attendance isn't mandatory but she tells you exactly what you need to know for the tests and skips things you don't need to know when she lectures (which she provides). Tests are hard but spend a BUNCH of time and you'll do just fine.

Professor Peek is so passionate about her field; it is difficult to avoid some of that enthusiasm by association. I have heard students complain that the reading is too heavy for the class, but I think that is an unfair criticism - the reading is always fascinating, and it is not unusual for a class like this. Most memorable, Peek is funny and kind

I took this class to pass my BYU letter's GE, and it was impossible. There are only 4 things in your grade- a midterm, two papers, and your final. Her midterm and final study guides are long, think 4 hours, and the material you actually use when taking the tests is about 5% of the studied materials. This class was too time intensive for a GE. AVOID

Has good intentions, but she didn't have a very organized curriculum. She goes off on tangents and talks but weird things. I wasn't really sure what was expected on the essays or the course.

I didn't really like Sister Peek as a religion professor. She talked for most of the class, without allowing much class participation. I also feel like I didn't learn anything new. It felt like I was in a Sunday School class. She had some great personal experiences that she shared with the class though.
