Best professor I've had so far. Super fun and personable. He makes his lectures fun and enjoyable. He doesn't waste your time and you learn every single class period; there is no busy work.

If you want to learn and engage with your classmates as well as the prof, then this class is the one to take. I took ENG 101 with him, the best choice I have made in a while. I was really not feeling college, thought it was dumb and was questioning why I was going. Prof Johnson helped me realize why I was there ane kept me confident and motivated.

Cliff Johnson is THE man. He makes english class fun, which is kind of a first for me. His class involves hard work and dedication, but it's college, so get used to it, it's not a cakewalk. I learn a lot everyday in practical and educational means, I recommend his class 10/10!

Prof. Johnson is a clear cut choice if you seek the ability to be an effective writer. You will understand everything that will be required of you in the class from day 1. Was very understanding and flexible in my time of need this semester and did not have to be. He will give you EXCELLENT feedback on all essays in the form of spoken review!

don't expect a good grade on a paper if it isn't an idea or opinion he agrees with. he insults students, gives terrible feed back, and is hard to contact outside of class. all in all, the worst professor I've ever had. run!! do not take this class!! it will destroy your gpa

If you are a forgetful/busy person expect no mercy from Mr. Johnson. He makes you do a writing assignment every single time for class and if you don't have it printed off or emailed by the time it's due to bad for you. If you did all the work and just forgot it or didn't have time to print it well to bad for you. Otherwise he is an ok teacher.

He's not a mean guy, but I couldn't stand his class. He says he doesn't grade on a opinion, but he clearly does. If he doesn't agree with you, you're wrong. He makes you participate and if you don't, you will get marked down. Typically, I had no problem with English, but I struggled and stressed so much from this class.

Cliff is a great teacher. He sets up his classroom lectures like a debate, which makes them fun and interesting. Cliff was also a very funny person in class. He grades the homework pretty easily, but he is a very tough grader on the papers. Don't be afraid to take advantage of his office hours! I feel like I am a better writer after having him.

Cliff has been my favorite teacher at SC4. He is very quirky, but a ton of fun. I enjoy going to class every day. He gives a few papers that should not be blown off. They are all on different topics and are interesting. I would recommend.

Quite quirky, but great prof. Not too much homework, but if you blow off a paper it will affect your great quite a bit. Each essay topic he picks is different, and it's interesting things to write about, so it isn't like any other english class I have taken. However if you don't participating you won't like this class.

He can be a tough grader, but his classes are interesting. Visit him during office hours for help with papers!! Biggest complaint is that he didn't go over MLA, so I was lost when taking English 102 with a different teacher. Overall, this class made me a better writer.

Quite a lively fellow. Very intentional with his classes and genuinely seeks to help his students grasp the content on a deeper level than just a way to get a degree. I have taken him twice now and have enjoyed both classes.

Cliff was by far my favorite teacher so far at SC4. There were a lot of short papers we had to write throughout the class and 5 larger papers. He made the class a lot of fun and encouraged everyone to participate. You definitely have to work for a good grade, but if you participate and have good attendance, extra points are added at the end.

Just no. This teacher grades based on his opinion of your work and not the quality. He tries really hard to present himself as a funny and personable fellow but that is not the case. If you like good grades and feedback, take a different class. Run.

There were 5 papers for the whole class, each gaining a greater effect on your grade. He gives you a midterm but it isn't graded; there is usually a short paper due every class meeting. It's just answering a few questions about an article. Pretty easy class, but gets very boring.

Cliff is a great guy with very high grading standards when it comes to papers. He has helped me become a better writer and has helped me seen things from a different perspective. I will be taking him again for ENG 102. Oh, and make sure you participate and try to aim for extra credit on the IRP's, it will come in handy for a small grade bump.

Cliff is a great person in general, but he is a tough grader on the papers. You can feel so confident on a paper, but when you get it back it's hardly a passing paper. Constructive criticism? Maybe. I am an A student, and I passed with a C.

Alright, so here's the deal. Cliff Johnson is a great speaker and he knows how to inspire his students. He honestly helped me look at things with a new perspective. But, he refused to give students their grades until the end of the semester. He sets a very high standard for his papers but doesn't do much to help students reach his goals.
