LOVE Ballantine! She is so nice and helpful outside of class. Structures can be confusing, but she is clear and very helpful during office hours.

Professor Ballantine could not have been more nice or more helpful outside of class. She is really smart and cares for her students. That being said, she gives a lot of homework and hard exams. She is a reasonable grader who gives a lot of extra credit which helped me pass, but she is still hard.

Honestly this was a really hard class. Way too much homework was assigned and the tests were basically in a foreign language. She had to be corrected about every 5 minutes at the chalkboard by the other students which as a student made it hard to take notes.

I always sucked at Calc in High School so when I decided to take Calc 2, I braced for the worst. To my surprise, this class was extremely easy. She gives generous partial credit on exams, webassigns are easy, she is clear and helpful, and even though her written assignments are tough you can go to Calc workshop and they help if she cant see you.

Personally, I was not a fan of Prof. Ballantine. Her tests are straightforward, and she is generous with partial credit. She assigns tough problems for written homework and wasn't very available for help outside of class. She does a lot of proofs so lecture can get confusing at times.

LOVE Professor Ballantine! She is the sweetest woman I've ever met! Extremely helpful and just loves math! She explains a lot of the background theory and proofs, which can sometimes be confusing, but she does plenty of examples to make sure you understand. So excited to be taking her again next semester!!!

She's so nice. And so clear. What she teaches, she teaches well. However, she may be a little too easy if you're looking to go on after calculus. Soares was harder. But that shouldn't deter you from taking her if you just want to enjoy calculus and learn it well.

Very passionate about math; smiles at the thought of a challenging math problem. she'll do anything to help you understand a math question if you're having trouble. the tests are fair but i wouldnt say that they are easy. homework is rigorous and graded. take the labs seriously (it helps to be familiar with the maple program for labs).

Super duper nice. her romanian accent is entertaining, so is her personality. you can ask her for anything, she "remembers being a student." smiles a lot, tough work but its plenty feasible with her help. She is great!if you ask for her help or extension even

With no previous calc experience, I expected to start right from the beginning. She didn't exactly start from scratch and the class is quite fast-paced. However, aside from how much you might struggle and want to burn your book, Ballantine is a sweetheart. She will stay with you for hours until all confusion is cleared.

Sweet professor but not always clear about material. If you never taken advance calculus in H.S., you're screwed for her class. Approachable and friendly. If you understand math, take her.

She is a very understanding, generous teacher for tests. She can be a little harsh on homeworks. Emphasis is on problem solving rather than proofs for this class, although you will still see proofs. Make sure you understand why you do everything you do thoroughly, cause this is a slight weakness
