Comment:
Germano's approachable, passionate & caring. He definitely makes you work for your grade, but as long as you pay attention & try, you should be fine. The labs are time consuming & statistics heavy. Study everything that he writes on the board & audio record his lectures to study for the tests. The research paper was time consuming. Never used book.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Professor Germano is a horrible and arrogant teacher. He is very scattered in lecture, jumps between unrelated topics every class, and talks about himself and his accomplishments for the majority of class periods . He refuses to use multiple choice for exams, all questions are essay format and unrealistically difficult.

His ecology class is only a 3 unit class, but makes his tests almost impossible to pass. There is no multiple choice and he is very specific on the answers you put down. He is very picky on every aspect of what your working on. Avoid at all costs! No just for ecology but his research class as well

Dr. Germano is very experienced in his field but I feel like his teaching methods are extremely outdated. Lecture, lab, and exams are all a different challenge. Exams are just the toughest and a major part of your grade. No matter how much you study you're not studying everything. Everyone is just lost bc there are no slides or concrete material

Professor Germano is a great Biology teacher. He takes a lot of pride in his work with Blunt nose leopard lizards and western pond turtles, so much so that he seems to tell stories about them every class. He did not explain the statistical concepts well, but could easily explain the biology behind it.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!!!!!!!! He is an okay lecturer but his test are way to hard. The only way for you to get an A on his test is if you have a photographic memory. I have only taken two exams so far and the class average for both was an F. How can that be okay? Anyway, I will avoid this professor as much as possible.

Dr. Germano is complicated and unclear. Even his lab instructors do not know what they are doing. He guarantees you an A if you go to every lecture but I have yet to receive an A on any test. it wasn't until the 2nd to last week of the quarter that he realized the chapters on the syllabus were incorrect. Avoid if possible. No possible help.

DONT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! He is very unclear. He doesn't care for the students only the subject matter. He doesn't follow the book (starts in chapter 2 first week of quarter and jumps to ch. 10 the following week) ... information given for lab practical was scattered. Needs to update this! If you can avoid this professor... do so.

Dr. Germano is awesome! He is MORE than willing to help you but you have to ask. This is the hardest class in the graduate program but Dr. G bent over backwards many times to help me understand everything during office hour. Just remember, if you go in with a sourpuss attitude, you'll do poorly. If you go in willing to learn, you'll do fine.

One of the worst science professors I've ever taken. Extremely unclear on his demands until you get your results, tests were ridiculously too specific. Never have I taken a class where the professor was so scattered and unclear yet picky. If you can avoid this guy please do and take the other professor. If not, then good luck. Seriously.

talked entirely too much about things other than what we need to know but still pertained to science so it was hard to distinguish if we needed to know it or not. never really specified what we did need to know and even if we tried we couldn't use the book because he doesn't go off of the book.

Very interesting class if you like working with animals. No textbook, all from one day of lecture a week. Work out at FACT the rest of the time. For papers follow bio dept guidelines or he will get you. Tests are everything you learn in lecture with a few questions on what you do at Fact. First part of quarter for fact is A LOT of yard work, then you work more with the birds and tours. Fun classmates help!

I suggest avoiding him if you can. He was rude in class and refused to answer simple questions if a student was confused. Would require you to perform stats by hand for the test, but show you how to do homework on Excel. Over all a frustrating experience, prepare to do a lot of teaching yourself.

vert diversity. Horrible teacher. No idea what he's looking for in terms of tests. Covers massive amounts of material everyday with no reiteration on what's truly important. Very rude almost to the point of being a jerk. Extremely moody as well. Basically expects you to do his research for him even if it doesnt pertain to the course material. bad!!

Kind of pompous. I am a transfer student and my bio prof at CSU Fullerton was much better, willing to have u ask challenging questions. This guy doesn't like to be asked questions, he just wants you to know what he says. he can be rude too

this class is a front, basically: work at fact 4 days a week, 1 day of lecture. one of those teachers who says: study everything (when everthing is A LOT) - not very specific. welcome to the biology dept. this class is good for ppl who want more experience w/ animals - you'll get lots!
