We completed the online activity to help teach us the relation between graphs of f' and f. This activity was poorly designed at best, and required downloading 10 different excel spreadsheets that were poorly designed. This assignment was helpful but often too easy as the answers were given away through linted information. These worksheets

Please I advise anyone to not take this Professor. Absolutely horrendous teacher. I was told there would be a curve but there wasn't one. He doesn't use blackboard so it is extremely difficult to know where you stand in the class. Seriously avoid him at all costs. Also he makes you sign into class but that literally has no effect on your grade.

2201 with him was much easier. Most of his test questions come straight fom the book or lecture notes, but he expects you to remember things exactly as he mentioned them once way back when during a lecture. Not impossible to pass, but he is not much of a teacher, he tells you a lot of information and it's up to you to sort through it. Big curve.

His tests definitely changed/got harder opposed to when I had him for 2201. He doesn't follow the textbook, but if you write his notes you can see what topics he covers. If you read those sections in the textbook and understand then youre good for tests. Quizzes are mostly from his notes. The average for the 3 exams was a 58. I had a 69 and got a B

Good lectures, good recitations, flat-out tells you exam material is based on textbook questions. Just dedicate a few hours to doing problems daily a week before and you should do fine on the exams (mechanism problems WILL make or break your grade). I just wish he wasn't late frequently. Expect to do at least one chapter on your own at the end.

"Type A" people will love him. He can seem abrasive, but that only ends up motivating you. It's your job to teach yourself anyway. If you're a "Type B" looking for an easy "A," you're in the wrong profession. Stay away from organic or any type of chemistry in general. You're looking to get spoon-fed. Good for you. Watch out for Drain-O.

Professor Hill's class doesn't have homework nor does he utilize Blackboard. His tests are fair if you teach yourself the material since his lectures are ineffective and difficult to read. The tests were consistently in the high 50s but because 2 or 3 overacheivers managed 80s and 90s, he placed the blame on the students.

Do not take Dr. Hill for Orgo 1, he is THE worst professor. His notes for class are so sloppy and outdated 'cause he hand wrote them once upon a time. You have to read the book to pass. He is also very rude towards students and is not helpful. I was looking forward to understanding Orgo, but he didn't teach me anything. Seriously don't take him....

I had Dr. Hill for Orgo 1 Spring 2014. In the very beginning of the semester he said if you read your notes everyday you will pass the class. I didn't do exactly that but I read the notes everyday starting the week before the test and I got high B's on them. He tells you exactly what to do to pass. Half the test problems are straight from his notes

I got an A only through shear hard work and outside resources. Dr. Hill is a horrible teacher. In the other reviews, pay attention to what class they are for. THERE ARE TWO DR HILLS! Nearly all the positive reviews are for the math teacher. Avoid the organic chemistry teacher at all costs. He is a miserable person and a very poor instructor.

Don't bother reading the positive reviews below, they are outdated. I made an account here specifically to warn you about Dr. Hill. He is rude, sarcastic, belittles students, has no sense of pace or organization, and is not willing to change. He is easily the worst instructor I've had. I'd sooner change my major than take him for another semester.

Might be the worst prof I have had in my academic career. If you want a prof who cares about his students, has no short temper, and will teach you Orgo in a quality fashion, do not take this guy. We knew nothing compared to other classes for the ACS final. He yells at people who ask questions. Almost completely self taught myself Orgo 1.

I would definitely recommend NOT taking Dr. Hill if you can. He is disorganized with grades and very condescending when asked questions. Also, our class was way behind the other sections, and once we reached the hard chapters we had to speed through them. The one good thing about him is that he uses problems from quizzes and class on the exams.
