You have to really work for this class, homework problems are much harder than necessary, but in the long run, doing the harder problems makes the actual material easier. You need to put in a lot of work to do well. She is an okay teacher, helpful with deadlines. Don't take this class with other heavy classes, or you struggle to make an A.

She is not helpful. Everything she does in class is completely different than what is on the HW. HW sucks. Masteringphysics can go die. Her test are very hard. I thought I was good at trig until I took this crazy lady.

Gatch is great. Physics was hard but thanks to the lab and really just devoting my time to study I came out with a B. The book isn't necessary because you take notes in class that you can use. Plus the access code comes with txtbk. she was very helpful and you could tell she wants to help you. Go to class bc she loves random assignments.

I had her for Physics 1 and 2 and I liked her so much more in 2 than 1. She really took time to make sure her students understood everything and if the class was having a particularly hard time with a topic she didnt put it on the test. The homework was really hard/time consuming. about 7-11 hours a week depending on the topic

For a person that has never taken a physics class this is not the brick wall you want to be faced with. Nice professor, helpful, BUT she doesn't go over everything you need to know to do the dog on hw! The book is written is morris code (I opened it twice for definitions that I ended up googling anyway).

2 homeworks online a week plus multiple labs a week, tests were 20 m/c with no partial credit. Decent teacher, but you really have to put in the time and effort for the class

She is okay for modern physics. She does teach the topic unlike the trig-based physics reviewed here and does help. Too much emphasis on rote learning and not enough about actual problem solving and concepts however. Recommend you read and do the homework, read, problems, read, problems.

She sucks and the only reason i took her is that i had no choice. she never explains if you want help and we dont go through the book. the online homework never explains how to do it, so i guess you're supposed to just figure it out. please do not take her EVER.

She gives you about 15 Mastering Physics homeworks which take between 2-5 hours each. About 8 labs. Teaches the whole class from beginning until the end. Hard quizzes all the time. After all that no curves. If you have a 71% going into the final might as well consider yourself not passing. Just save yourself the trouble and take anyone else...

she sucks. everything, down to the quiz questions, are copied from someone else. her slideshows are from another source. she leaves to go to UGA games every week of an exam and is not there to answer any questions. Go to UGA, gatch.

Gatch is a decent professor. She relies heavily on Powerpoints then uses Mastering Physics with very difficult problems that no one understands. Tests are 15-20 MC with 3-4 Free Answer. Bad thing is the Free Answers are 75% of the grade and are not easy. Would not suggest her.

Awful, awful, awful. She doesn't teach. She relies on power point presentations and gives very few examples of problems. She calls it "student based learning." Then she gives tons of difficult homework problems that she never explains how to do in class. I learn more from physics tutors than I learn from her.

Not a very good teacher. Uses power points which are copied pages from the book. Doesnt spend much time teaching but rather let students teach themselves. Take her as a last resort!

Taking a physics class with her is just like taking a physics class with a monkey. they are not helpful and dont "really" teach. Goes through powerpoints and does not explain how to use the equations. Does not provide examples and is not present half of the semester to ask questions. Take someone else.

She's a great teacher. She's extremely helpful and she's willing to help you out. She gives extensions if u ask and her workload is not that huge. I really advise that if she has some spots open that you sign up. Only thing is that her voice is real monotone, but she's extremely nice and helpful.

How do i say this? Dr. Gatch did for physics what Jenna Jameson did for XXX movies, She brought it back to life. Id recommend this class to anyone. I had her class in the second session of the summer semester, right after taking Physics 1 in the first sess

She is really nice. Definitely committed to her students. She is very descriptive, and wont leave you confused. You must do homework, but her class is as hard as you make it. You get what you put in, and she very helpful. I also recommend Tony Deal. Do not take Dr. Dean though. Stay way from Dean!
