Comment:

She is very smart and knowledgable. Highly recommend taking her for any class but especially Political Philosophy. Al thought I never really understood what was going on, she is very helpful and great in office hours. She expects a lot, especially with the essays. But she rewards people who come to class, participate and finish assignments.

extremely well versed in material. I felt bad that most of our class didn't want to be there and she was so passionate about it! when you put the TIME and EFFORT into papers, not only do you do well, but you get a lot of respect from her. she wants you to succceed, yet didn't get clear answers out of the class or from office hours

Comment:

Prof. Schaeffer is the best possible option at Holy Cross for those who are met with the grave misfortune of being required to take this class. The class had a load of potential, but unfortunately failed to meet expectations. If you must, take PolPhi with her, but be prepared for a load of circular logic and unneccesarily difficult assignments.

Comment:

Absolutely the best professor I have ever had. Explains lectures well even though she realizes how difficult they are. Willing to answer questions or discuss other ideas than her own. Gets you exams beforehand but it doesn't make it easier. Do the work and she will truly appreciate it. That, plus she's hot makes it easy to take the class. DO IT!

Solid prof. Class can get boring, but she explains the material well. Papers are so-so and require time. You will get a hand cramp during the exams, but if you stick to the study guide and have a grasp of the readings (even if you just took notes in class) you'll be alright.

This woman is amazing. She's completely brilliant and got me interested in political philosophy when I thought I would hate it. Made me want to work hard on her papers, which paid off for my grade in the the end. If you work hard she'll recognize it and give you a decent grade.

She will help you and encourage you to do well. Enjoys organization in all your work, allot a lot of time for papers. Just make sure you take good notes, understand the readings whether you read them or not, and her study guide with the questions for the test essentially is the test but with excess questions so do those well and you'll be fine. She makes things harder than they have to be shes very ambiguous. PLATO SUCKS! If at all possible study a lot of Plato before entering. Class discussions okay she talks alot and never lets you finish a comment But she is nice and will help you but the material sucks so much it's just a matter of pushing yourself to learn. It shouldn't be in plysci.

The lesser of two evils. I think the polt science department in general needs a few fixings if this is the best we can get. She is nice, sincere, understanding... never gives As, frequently gives Bs and hardly (almost never) gives a C- I read nothing and managed a B... not too shabby I'd say.
