Don is like the sweet old grandfather I never had. This year the class was basically an English class. You can tell he's very well read and loves English when written well! If you are a good writer you'll do fine, but if not, good luck! Overall, he discusses many interesting essays with his students.

this was for short stories class. I went to class every single day and read every single story he assigned, but it wasnt enough. He gave the most impossible midterm acting as if we were masters students. no one finished it on time, his grading was hard, and he was not helpful at all. Avoid his classes he is boring and useless.

Prof. Blake was one of the worst teachers I had at Binghamton. Although my word will probably not matter considering all the other good comments but in my situation h was horrible at communicating with students and I personally felt like he never wanted to get to know you as a student. He's also definately not the best at being positive on things.

Prof. Blake is really passionate about Poetry and I enjoyed this class. 2 Page papers due each week are pretty easy/straightforward. Go into office hours before its due and he'll correct everything so its an automatic grade bump when its due. Midterm is bleh but final is a breeze, speeches are easy. Got an A in the class but I worked for it

Text book is a must! 2 page paper every week sometimes easy, sometimes hard depending on the topic. This class is easy to get a B in , but you must work hard to get an A

Professor Blake is very helpful. This is mainly a writing class, so if you are a good writer, you will be fine. He gives a lot of 2-page papers that count for about 45% of your grade so if you get As on those, you will do good in the class. Overall, he is a cool, reasonable teacher. You do not have to know anything about poetry to take this class.

Very passionate about poetry. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you participate often he notices when you're missing. Class participation is everything, even glancing through the poems quickly before class will help you follow what's going on. One 500-word essay due each week, which is super easy and usually graded pretty leniently. Nice clas

Great professor. He is a very interesting guy and knows poetry well. I loved his class and I learned a lot from it. You have to go to class in order to do well and pay attention and try hard...you should be ok. But if you're interested in poetry I highly suggest taking this class with Blake.

Great class, Great guy. Pay attention in class and remember his little blurbs on each poem (THIS IS THE TEST!) He makes you write a short paper every week, but its usually an interesting topic, and he grades them very easily. Plus he values unique style quite a bit and gives you extra credit for novel ideas. The two tests are pretty tough thou

The class is a really good introductory class. Prof. Blake is really helpful and approachable if you have a problem - but you shouldn't. The class, for the most part, is really easy. His tests DO require a photographic memory though...

Passionate about poetry, but is not open to other views or opinions--just agree with him. Has a habit to interpret poems wrong sometimes, but nonetheless provides great insight. Does not understand sad poetry. EASY CLASS!
