I am a former student of Professor Benson at mesa community college. I went to visit her and she was not there anymore. I searched online and found that she unexpectedly passed away in 2013. I just want to say she was a loving mother and wife and she will be missed. And yes she was a good professor. Rest in Peace Donna Benson

Donna Benson is an excellent professor. She is fair, open minded, extremely helpful, and goes the extra mile to help her students succeed. She is both available and very approachable. Attend class & follow her study guides you can't help but get a good grade. Most of all she makes science FUN & INTERESTING...One of the best teachers I've ever had!

Donna is one of the best teachers I've ever had. She is so much fun, I hate science and she made it interesting. You have to pay attention and show up but if you do you will learn so much.I only wish I needed more classes that she taught. I tell everyone to take her. She really cares about her students and the community. Her Science Day was awesome

Who knew Geology could be so sexy! Everyone in Disasters/ GLG 110 & GLG 111 is now smitten with Geology. Benson's class in GLG 101, GLG 103 is equally interesting. MCC should throw her Mineralogy class into the Fall schedule. This gal can teach! Check out her science outreach program to title I elementary schools and volunteer.

Awesome geology teacher. Had her for GLG 101 lab and she taught me a lot of stuff that my lecture teacher didn't cover. Definitely helped me become extremely interested in geology. I also had her for GLG 110. Very interesting and extremely helpful. Wants everyone to like geology and helps you WANT to like geology. Take her class.

Extremely clear in her expectations, very good at explaining things, and just a generally cool person too. Taking this lab WILL help you with the lecture class. Basically, just show up and pay a little bit of attention, and it's going to be hard to not get at least a B in this class. Attendance is mandatory and they're strict with it. Miss 2 = W.

Donna is the best. She is fun and easy to get along with. The quizzes are fairly easy if you pay attention. The book is not mandatory but she stresses attendance. I would highly recommend taking a class from Donna.

Whatever you do, take this class, DO NOT buy the book, but show up every day. Easy A. Awesome teacher, she makes it fun, and she is smart. I think she's the head of the Geology department, but she doesn't require you to buy a book, which means that will save you some $$$. Take her class if you need any science credits.

She is a great professor and really enjoys teching GEO. Look--she does not want you do do poorly (unlike other profs) she even states clearly what to expect on quizes. Shes nice and helpful. Each quiz counts in the end, you'll see!

I took this class as a non-science major needing to meet the mandatory requirements. Attendance a must and you will have quizzes almost every class, but no exams except the final. She is easily distracted and topics can be boring, but if you show up and do your work you will get an A or B. Lab was awful, the maps and math you will never use again.
