Dori is hard but shes interesting and engaging. She is a teacher whose class you will feel good about seeing through to the end. You have to read the book if you want As on the test. Did I have a panic attack a time or two during her class? Yes. But I was very proud when I received my final grade and you could tell she was proud of it too.

Dorie makes you work for your grade. The minute class starts, she starts lecturing. Always read your chapters before coming to class. With every test there are three different essays that must also be completed and turned in, the answer is from the lecture as well as notes. I would take this class again.

She is tough, but fair. Incredibly interesting in her lectures and no, she does not act like she's always right. If you're looking to be spoon fed and get lots of powerpoints you can take pictures of, you're in the wrong place. Dorie teaches a class as it should be taught; she puts it out there and it's up to you to read, synthesize & apply info.

Unless you agree with her on all her opinions, (which is what the class consists of) then good luck passing because she only grades ONE assignment by a rubric (which is the in-call debate presentation). Worst professor I've ever had. Thanks for ruining my GPA, hope it made you feel better!

I absolutely loved having Dorie as my Sociology professor. I took her class over a summer semester and I can tell you that this is a very fun and educational class. There is one debate and the assigned essay papers consist of answering questions as best as you can (there is no wrong answer) out of the rubric that is very well laid out. I recommend.

She is Literally the most amazing teacher i have ever had. If you take this class you will come out a better person. She is not easy, though. there is heavy work load that is expected of you but her class is so interesting and great you deal with. You cannot miss a class bulk of information you need for final comes out of her mouth not in her book.

I love sociology and really enjoy learning about the subject, but Dorie makes it very hard for one to learn about the actual curriculum with her outdated teaching methods. She has a very negative attitude in general and it really bums you out when she inevitably begins her rant about whatever it is for that day. No powerpoints/visual aids either.

Great professor. She has a lot of interesting and helpful knowledge. If you don't take notes, you're going to have a tough time. Her Midterm and Final are 7-10 questions you will answer in essay form, and it's take home. You pull all the info from your class notes, and other sources like your textbook and the internet. No pop quizzes, or tests.

Mrs. Farrell was an amazing professor. She grades hard, but fair. She states that her opinion of you doesn't affect nor determine ones grade; she means it. She is an unbiased professor who I would recommend to any and all students. I respect her, and cannot wait to speak with her again.

She was obviously well versed in her field, I felt like I could learn a lot from her if she wasn't constricted by the course material. I would love to take her again in another class, but it seems like she only does intro.

favorite teacher. great with teaching about life and opening your eyes about things going on in the world. also good at teaching her class, I passed sociology with a B without opening the book. so it's not as hard as some of these other comments say it is. when you feel prepared for an exam, you are not. otherwise, I love her. -high school senior

Avoid. Always late. Lectures can be interesting (great storyteller) but are useless. Have to read/ learn from text on your own to pass. Requires huge amount of writing that is worth little, or sometimes no points. Grades harshly with vague criteria; 1 mistake drops you a letter grade. Is more interested in pushing her opinions than in teaching.

if you are a reader then goo go for the class. if not find a different professor. Shes very interesting and has great lectures but as far as test her lectures taught no material on there. I'm sorry but i'm not going to read a whole sociology book just to guess what i need to study for an exam.

I dropped her class after 2 days. She's rude and demanding. She knows her stuff, but has ridiculous expectations for students. She's terrible at managing online assignments. Half of them aren't set up correctly and some aren't set up at all. She takes hours to fix them and then doesn't respond to your email and say that she fixed them. Avoid her

At first I was afraid and hated the class (it being my first college course) but once Dorie talked about the things she knows, she made me want to learn and know everything she knows. She is unbelievable smart and gifted. The tests do take some studying and you need to read the chapters she assigns. Besides that and a few essays its all listening!
