Worst class I have ever taken. He spends class complaining about people not being there, talking about himself, or going on tangents about concepts no one understands. almost never available for office hours & can be extremely rude for no reason. Entire class fails most tests. Makes you visit the observatory late at night. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.

Durig is a character, to be sure. Digressions in class are common and sometimes pointless, but overall the material is covered. He (usually) is able to explain the concepts in a very easy way. He expects a comprehensive knowledge, but he designs the class in a way where this is quite possible and even easy if you take the time. Read the book.

Durig is literally insane. You spend a large portion of each class doing noting, specifically him talking about himself. His lectures are mediocre- he isn't great at explaining complex ideas. If you do take this class, pay attention (difficult sometimes) and seek outside help. Not a hard grader.

I don't know how this guy got tenure. He is a very nice guy and willing to meet/help students outside of class, etc., but he is terribly ineffective and dull in the classroom.
