This was my favorite class of the semester, and one of my favorite at UWEC ever. This class is not for everyone, it is a difficult upper-division level course. Doug will make you work for your grade, but you will also learn so much. Doug has the unique ability of creating a family with his smaller classes and that is something you don't find.

Dr. Faulkner is your stereotypical professor. He's got a nice sense of humor and is generally friendly with all of his students. His lectures can get boring at times but I didn't mind. The homework is easy and there is no reading unless you want to. I suggest having him as a professor.

Dr. Faulkner teaches this class with Drs. Running and Jol (see their profiles). He has the 1st third of the class and was my lab professor for the year. His powerpoints are very cool, but lectures are extremely boring. His exam is based solely on his lectures, so be prepared to take good notes. In lab, he was very helpful & he is very knowledgeable

Great professor, had too much fun in fact. You really grow your love for rivers with this class. Plus, you get a week long field trip to the Little Missouri Badlands. Bodacious.

If you're picking this class to have an "easy A" for a lab grade, do NOT take it. I am not a bad student by any means, but this class killed my GPA. Not only is the content difficult but the lectures are agonizingly boring making it hard to absorb the material, no matter how good your notes are. The majority of your grade is based off of exams.

He's a decent teacher, but he is pretty boring and the tests are WAY too hard for a 100 level class. I think the 3 professors teaching each section expect everyone taking it to be a Geography major when it's most people want LE Credit. Avoid GEOG 104 and take something else unless you're one of the 3 Geography majors who need it for their major.

This class was taught in three sections by three professors and Dr. Faulkner was by far the hardest section. His slides are mostly pictures and makes it unclear what information is actually important. His is knowledgeable and passionate but if you don't read and attend lecturers you will fail his sections exam, you probably will even if you do.

GEOG was a stretch, but a good one! Tests were extremely difficult and detail picky for a 100 course. Both professors who taught this course, Running and Faulkner, did an incredible job keeping you entertained and engaged. I was expecting to take this class for the LE and get an easy A, but that didn't happen, I worked hard for it. Awesome class!!!

Dr. Faulkner does a phenomenal job conveying material and helping his students. He is very good at what he does. Lab was always something to look forward to; anything I had trouble understanding, he was very willing to help. Lectures can get a bit long, but they are very enjoyable to attend.

Professor Faulkner is great. You need to be careful with what he says in his lectures for its important to know his exact wording on definitions and other main points. Grading is a bit strict but again he wants everything to be known in his words. Tests take a lot to study for - gives out great study guides. Discussion posts he has are important.

If you missed a class, he will post the class slides on D2L. There are multiple instances of extra credit. Remember to do the Pearson Science Lab because since this is an off to the side type of assignment, it's easily forgotten. Remember to do the D2L discussion. There are three tests all semester. The last test consists of the first two plus.

Doug is a great guy and very passionate about teaching this class. I highly recommend taking this class if want an easy A. The textbook is not necessary but all of the test questions come from lecture and discussion posts. Make sure to take notes on what he says with images on the slides because he does not put much text in his slides.

Dr. Faulkner is a very caring and respected professor. He actually wants his students to succeed. Geography 178 was very easy and it was many because Dr. Faulkner teaches it. His exams are lecture based, so come to class and take nots, follow the study guide he gives out and you will get an A. Also, do the online discussions.

There is 3 professors to this one class. They all have it known but never blankly say, that they all feel everyone is taking their class for a general education class.
