Didn't give too much hw so I could focus on other classes. We do long poses, not many gestures. I got some of my best work from here, but wished for gesture days. Doug lets you do your thing, believes in you. No pressure, very positive and peaceful work environment. Great if you're a senior and need this studio time for your portfolio. Go to class.

Mr. Norman is definitely a sensible man who knows his stuff. Attendance is technically mandatory, but if you have a good reason to be missing (extremely ill, etc), he will understand and work with you. Homework is very light, and Mr. Norman's humor is definitely unique!This was my favorite freshman class and it enhanced my interest in drawing.

Never responds to emails. Never posts grades/ attendance- which poses surprises at the end of semester. Lectures are incomprehensible due to his whisper voice and constant diversion to personal stories. Spends too many class periods on one drawing. He is nice but overall not a good teacher or learning experience.

Nice guy, very reasonable and always trying to get you the best grade he can. His only real problem is that he speaks VERY quietly. He doesn't lecture much but when he does either get a seat right in front of his face or find something to entertain yourself because you won't hear a word if your not close.

I love Doug Norman. I had him as a teacher for 2 years at SMAC (for oil painting and drawing) and my freshman year (painting). He is very understanding and extremely helpful if you ask for it. He's actually very funny as well (if you can hear his jokes). :)

My Daddy and coolest guy I know! hes really funny if you take his class joke around with him it will get you brownie points. Hint though draw what you see dont put little doodles on your sketches he dosent want that.
