Avoid this professor at all costs. Has a hard time explaining anything and gets annoyed when questions are asked in class. He will have pop quizzes that he will make up on the spot and cannot engage with students at all. Reads material from his tablet the entire class time and hardly looks up. Very unclear. Please, please, please avoid him!

Class started w 32 students, by finals there was only 7. He does very little explaining in class unless promoted. He taught with headphones playing music while we were in class; for grading marks off tests for things such as -NOT USING ENOUGH SCRATCH PAPER -IF IT SEEMS LIKE YOU DIDNT READ THE PROBLEM -IF HE JUST DIDNT SEE THE ANSWER REGARDLESS

Glad I didn't pay attention to the disgruntled students here who blame the instructor instead of taking responsibility for their own performance. Crystal clear lectures. Kinda spoiled now. Don't know if I'll find another math instructor this good. He connects concepts and makes the homework doable. Tests are based on lectures. No surprises.

His class for stats was very confusing, I dont recommend if your learning something new for the first time. Lots of homework, and is very strict about coming to class, he sometimes changes the value of homework and or classwork to higher points, therefore making it impossible to miss one day

All the students I've talked to really liked Ed so I took his class. So glad I did. Math is kinda tough for me but he explains things really really clearly. Hope I get to take another class from him. Some classes people are like sleeping but in his classes I don't see that. If you don't want to engage you should take online class.

Do not take his class. Very sloppy . I have no idea where these good reviews are coming from . But anyone Ive ever talked to about him says and knows that he is a horrible teacher . I think he would be a good tutor for people who actually got taught it already. But he does not teach it step by step. Please dont waist your time.

I found out myself so much confused with Ed teaching style, didn't learn much in class. But I was just looking for a class to get my credits, won't take his class again though.

If you're straight out of high school and are used to teachers who talk down to you, don't empower you, and assume that you're trying to get away with something, Ed will be more of the same. I found his teaching style pedantic. A clear grading rubric would be helpful.

I would highly recommend to not waist your time with this teacher .If you are actually trying to learn , I would not take his class. Completely disorganized and his methods of teaching are very sloppy. Instead of showing steps of how to. He goes problem to problem and assumes you know how to do certain little steps. Everyone in my class was confuse

Ed overall is a good professor. Like many said at times he can grade harshly, but he wants his students to understand the material. His lectures are easy to understand, and he explains most material thoroughly. At the end of the course he does a great job putting all of 5c together. would reccomend taking for 5c.

I've taken 5A and 5C with Ed. I asked him to teach Math 23 so hope he will. This guy really makes understanding math incredibly easy. The book has hard problems but usually cuz I wasn't seeing something. He makes stupid jokes like applying rotational force to rolling over in the grave. But he's really clear. He helped me for Math 5B from other Inst

Ed introduced difficult concepts early so you have time to think about them. Chapter 16 uses all material from Ch 12 through 15 but he really threads it together nicely. Questions on exams are often broken down into parts which is good but you can't just memorize formulas because he is asking that you apply parts used to derive them to problems.

I took AP Calc in high school and found Ed very confusing. I feel like the only reason I passed the class was because I had seen the material before, which sucks because I took this class to clarify what I already knew. Writes lecture notes on iPad and posts on canvas making it easy to access them when studying. Gives practice exams.

Took Ed's Math 5A class on M/W/F morning, shorter class schedule threw him off schedule, he alotted a week to do final review but ended up with only one after class session the friday before. He's definitely a great tutor, can and will sit with you to help you understand something fully, but not as strong at lesson plan and being flexible.

Really amazing teacher. I took Math 5C with another professor but would go to Ed's lectures instead since the pacing was about the same. My teacher totally confused me even though he was organized. Ed knows the "stuff" and can explain it in the clearest way. His pictures helped A LOT and he is way more consistent with notation than the book! CLEAR!

Mostly nice in person but VERY condescending & rude in replies online/via email. Not good at hiding he's frustrated and lets you know if he thinks you're asking something stupid. He's an alright teacher though. Pretty decent at explaining things, but you need to do the homework to understand. Can't rely solely on lectures, which is normal for math.

Yeah, I love his class. He runs behind a bit, and sometimes has to glaze over material really quickly, but considering this is 5B, this is expected. You can tell that he loves math, and that rubs off on his students. If you ask him questions, he's always happy to help. Pretty tough teacher, but I'd say it's worth it.

Ed's not a great lecturer, but if you have questions he's always available and makes things clear. You have to be honest with him about how much you understand or else he will just assume you're a math genius like him. His exams are fair contrary to popular belief, but he is SUPER disorganized and I found that to be very frustrating.

Eds pictures were amazing! Used the word "thing" a lot when pointing to amazing pictures. Easy to ask questions. Always available in the MLC. Seemed tired a lot. Really clarified math in a way that made it possible to do almost impossible problems. Gives exam outlines. Expects you to ask questions when you don't understand. Need to go to class.

Pros: kind hearted and ready to help his students. Cons: Cannot lecture. His lectures are confusing and feel unprepared. This is because he uses words like "the thing" instead of "the circle". If you take him I recommend teaching yourself out of the book and videos. Ed is a nice man, but primarily due to his lecture ability I wouldnt take him again
