Nanotech was pretty fun with him. He was pretty good at breaking things down for us, since nano gets way more in depth than this class, I feel. Nonetheless, if you had a decent chem background, you can follow along. And the homework wasn't too bad. Pay attention, and you can do ok. The lectures were good, and anyway, there was no textbook...

Many interesting things, ESPECIALLY if continuing in materials science as it comes up in a lot of other classes. His teaching skills were good but he included too much material that he wasn't testing on, so half of studying was figuring out what he wasn't testing. Sometimes his explanations got confusing. Super helpful that he posted all his slides

Course is not the most exciting, but you great some introduction to a variety of engineering concepts. Not as hands-on as the other intro courses since it has no labs or math at all. Lectures are very boring (you will fall asleep) and lecture slides are nearly incomprehensible. HW is graded, but it usually pretty easy. Not hard to do well however.

Took nano 1st semester freshman year. Doesn't expect too much out of you and if you do minimal work you'll get by. Class was pretty easy, though its tough to stay awake

Funny Greek dude, likes cracking jokes about the horrible Ithaca weather. Lectures can be a bit tough to stay awake in sometimes. This is an ordinary Cornell engineering class - homeworks are actually graded and prelims are tough. Just remember- it's curved to a B+.

He's a pretty chill professor. Loves his Greek jokes, pretty decent at explaining material. Gets a little monotone... but hes good. The class isn't bad, but you better LOVE silicon electronics... since I don't, it kind of turned into nap time. TAs are ANAL about homework!!! Good review sesh though.. highly recommended if you want to pass heh

this course is informative, but the prelim/midterm is ridiculously hard, and we talked little about anything on it. In comparison to other ENGRI this one is most likely more difficult except maybe lasers and photonics (110)

I was excited about this class until I took it. I am now suffering. No textbook for the class means that you must try to stay awake for his lecture-impossible task. Getting a B is hard work, but I think its possible. I am considering changing outta Mats Eng. after this class.

Giannelis tries, and is friendly, but his lecture style is boring and unclear, especially without a good chemistry background. As a result the course is hard unless you're more interested in and will put more time into it than the average guy who took it cuz it was a cool-sounding ENGRI. Keep away.

The guy is nice and tries at his jokes, but I could not understand him at all at the beginning of the semester. Sitting in the front makes things clearer. Repeats key concepts so if you didn't catch it the first time, you get it the second, third time around. Grading by TAs is incredibly picky

can't teach; disorganized - doesn't write anything on the board, no textbook for the course so if you don't understand him or miss out on what he says you're ****ed (talks very fast &only give general descriptions. homework is graded harshly, TAs sometimes don't know what they're talking about.

No textbook, and though his conversation is pleasant, it isn't _teaching_. His class is not very informative, except what you can get from the TAs. It's easy, but too unstructured and uninformative to be useful or challenging. Doesn't give good notes.

Funny in the beginning, then got tiresome. Class was easy, but you had to figure out what he was saying. I liked the material and the variety. His "sidekick" Allison, who basically took over toward the end, really sucked though. Still a good ENG
