I enjoyed Professor Mann this semester. He's a great guy as long as you stay on his good side (dont show up late!!!!). Classes are pretty easy- but slightly boring because all we did was watch movies, and I'm someone who likes a little bit of a lecture. Exams were all take home and very simple!

Comment:

Take the class if you want an easy A. He gives short map assignments. There are few writing assignments that are only 1 page. Tests are take home. All information can be found in the textbook. You watch documentaries based on textbook material everyday in class. There is no excuse to get anything lower than an A! Dr. Maan is a great prof!

Show up, watch a history movie and that's class (sometimes will pause the movie to speak for a minute). ALL TEST ARE TAKE HOME, and the only other homework are Maps to fill out.

Comment:

History 111 with Professor Mann is the prefect class for a freshman looking for a chill class. Don't expect him to like you very much if you don't show up or come to class late. He won't get mad to your face, he'll just become kind of passive aggressive. You have no excuse if you get less than an A. Absolutely no excuse, it's such an easy class.

Dr. Mann is incredibly knowledgeable of material in class. Entire grade was based off 5 hundred question take home exams that goes along with the readings. In class we just watched history documentaries.

My favorite teacher at oakton. Super helpful, extremely caring and all around great. He wants you to succeed and he makes the material interesting. We mostly watched history documentaries in his class. The tests were take home and multiple choice. Truly a wonderful person and teacher. Not power hungry like some other teachers at oakton! Fantastic!

After taking HIS 111, I asked him if he was offering HIS 112 for the summer. Turns out he wasn't but he offered to open up the course just for me. I took this course off campus and got it all done in two weeks. That's if you use your time to your advantage. I learned a lot and as a professor he can help out with anything you need.

Professor Mann was very helpful at getting me through HIS 111. I took this course with him again because I did not do so well the first time around. When I took the course with him, I finally was able to see real results towards passing the course. He makes sure that you pass and that you understand the concepts taught in class. Take him!!!

I took this History of Modern Latin America. Really enjoyed the class with this class. I like how he uses films made and in Spanish. I am from Mexico and I hope he does more classes on this. What I really like is how he emails back when you need help.

Comment:

Took Professor Mann's US History class during Fall 2017 and his Non-Western Civilization class during Spring 2018. He is a teacher who cares about his students and wants to help them succeed. If you pay attention during the lectures and documentaries, take home exams and quizzes will be easy. I would definitely recommend Professor Mann's classes.

I always hated History. Names dates places. Boring. I took US History part 1 cause I had too. Really liked it. Take home exams let me really study and do better than in class. He is the first prof that emailed me back when I have a question. I am in the Non-Western class. Very interesting to learn about places outside of the US.

Dr. Mann is everything you should want in a teacher: He knows his subject as deeply as a professor can - completely loves history, loves to teach, wants his students to understand and love the subject. Completely accessible, friendly, energetic, goes the extra mile. You will retain so much and of such high value that you will be thankful!

This is my third class with Dr. Mann. I took him for U.S. part 1 and Contemporary Non-Western. I am now in his Vietnam War class. Super. He really brings it alive. First class we saw some amazing pics he took last year . Really brings History alive. Bunch of my friends are taking his this semester. I still want to be in his Latin America class.
