The best thing about this class is she provides all of the material so we didn't have to buy textbooks. She wants students to participate and if no volunteers she'll hand out a quiz. I love to write, so I found this class quite easy. 4 papers, a midterm and a final. She's a fair grader. But you need to be prepared for class in order to do well.

Honestly she's pretty good. Show up, do your work, hand in all the essays!! (2 two page essays and 2 three page essays) for a total of 4 essays. For this course she literally gives you what will be on the midterm and final. She likes participation but won't put you in the spot either. No quizzes and no test.

This is def. an easy A. Her syllabus a very clear. Her lectures aren't too bad. What matters is participation, and because it is a writing intensive course reading and writing is required. However, it is not HARD AT ALL. There isn't a text book but you are required to buy 3 books. They're cheap if you rent them in the book store. I recommend!

This professor is really difficult. She grades very hard. She gives super long readings. She needs students to participate or else you will not get a good grade. If you are not so interested in history you are going to need a miracle to pass this class. I would not take her class again.

She's one of the best History Professors I've had, there is a lot of reading but she explains everything very well and loves to have in class discussions. She likes to hear about what you'll write in your final paper and will recommend books to help with the research. I would love to take her again!

I learned so much in this class. The class was very open and if you did the readings you participated in very enlightening discussions. Prof. Ackerman didn't try to force her opinion of any of the subject on you but rather let you come to your own conclusion based on the facts and the primary sources. I really look forward to taking her again.

This class was very interesting. Dr. Ackerman is very informative and makes class very interesting even though it was a night class. You do have to pay attention to grammar and punctuation in papers. Just do the readings and participate in class an you can get an A as well.

Is she really serious about grammar? Yes. Is she strict about readings/attendance? Yes. Is she one of the most demanding profs. of the history department? Yes. However she is one of the nicest, approachable and humane profs. that I have ever come across. I'm glad that I was her student and thankful for all the advice she'd given me.

If anyone is not a english writing major the class will be difficult for you. However, Prof. Akerman is very reliable and will always help anyone with writing problems. She admires anyone that brings outside sources to the diccussion of the readings. Very low tolerance for being unprepared. Seriously.

One of my favorites in the history department. Yes, she expects you to proof-read and write well, but she is a very approachable professor. She's always willing to meet with you and help you. Also, she intertwines personal stories with the lesson. I would highly recommend her. Oh, make sure you participate.

Prof. Ackerman is amazing. she is a very good professor. She is very helpful. She really cares about the students. Her class and books are very interesting. She gave to the class 3 essays and 3 test. The test are pretty easy. The only problem is that she focuses a lot in the grammar in the essays. You had to edit well. I recomend Her. She is GREAT!
