Monsieur Ashkar taught me STAT2653. I worked hard and felt good with my grade. He makes statistics understandable because he uses alot of examples when he teaches. He's clear, patient and always wants to help. His door is always open. If you work hard, you will do well.

Jai seulement suivie le manuel et jai fait mes devoirs. Il met beaucoup demphase sur des choses qui sont vraiment pas importante donc jécoutais jamais dans son cours. En faisant mes devoirs et le livre jai fini avec une vraiment bonne note donc le livre est essentiel.

Stats is a course students generally dread and fear, so be sure to take previous negative feedback with a grain of salt. Be sure to read the book, because notes taken in class are meant to be support material. The prof believes that if a concept or example is well explained in the book, writing it again on the board is redundant (True!).

Confusing. He loses track of what he says constantly and makes the easy stuff more complicated than it is by dragging it on and on. Read the book, because 1) he skips some important exam stuff and says its your responsability to keep track and 2) its waaay easier to understand.

Great prof overall. I had him a while back. Course is a bit tough and requires a lot of work, but he is very willing to help if you have questions. His exams are reasonable and you have access to material, but don't go unprepared. He is one of the better profs I have had in the department.

Comment:

Fahim is the type of professor that will spend 10 minutes explaining absolutely nothing and making mistakes, but will skip over the only important material that most of the class does not understand. Also he can be very difficult to understand and follow during his lectures because of the fact that he constantly loses track of what he is saying.
