Comment:
Dr. Chummney is a good professor. He has a thorough knowledge of the subject, and lectures in an enthusiastic storytelling well. He does ramble off sometimes. He tells you exactly what he wants in his papers and exactly what he doesn't,and points out which portions of the text you have to read. You just have to go to class to hear it. Attend class!

The WORST teacher i have ever had. All he does is ramble about his kids, which are failures. He uses 2 different textbooks, that the class gets test out of.ts. He expects too much from a GEN ED class. He does not speak clearly at all. He gets off subject all the time on things that have nothing to do with the class. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!

The worst teacher I've ever had. EXTREMELY unclear, mumbled, rambled, did not go much by the text. He expected way too much while being very vague about papers. My memory of this class is wondering what was going on while he spoke extensively of the accomplishments of himself, and his daughter, Who cares, Do no take his class! Terrible teacher.

Don't take his class! I have had him for 2 sememsters and he is the most boring and difficult to please professor I have ever met. His papers are impossible and he waits until after they are turned in to tell everyone what he wants on them. No matter how well you know the material, he will still find a reason to give a low grade

OMG!!! This professor was horrible...I've had bad professors but they do not compare to the dreadful MWF's I spent in this class..the man rambles about nothin..tests are not on info from the book...we barely used the high price book and he showed us picture books about history and video cassettes as tho we were in kindergarten...save yourself

HARD!!! I took him for American History 2010 and all he does is ramble on and on about useless things. I have NEVER opened the textbook, and the other book we use if full of essays that we get quizzed on. Friday you can get extra credit by participating in class discussion over the essays that you're supposed to read.

Classes aren't difficult. I'm making an A+ without trying. One time, I hadn't been 2 class in weeks, I hadn't done any of the reading (don't have the txtbk), and I didn't know that it was the day of the second exam= made an A. He says off-the-wall things. "Atheists have orgies at Shelby Farms." "Andrew Jackson was gay." "Michelle Obama is a witch."

He expects students to read, listen, and participate. He is getting older and talks too much. BUT if you are lazy drop out. If you want to earn your degree take his class. There are too many students who just want to show up and get an A. This is not high school!

HORRIBLE TEACHER. I took him for Civil War/Reconstruction, he thinks he is the foremost expert on the subject, but can't teach it. He required 2 book reports that were eight pages each, and I had to read both textbooks due to his lack of teaching. He gives useless outlines, rambles on about his family, and laughs at his own jokes(which arent funny)

I have an A in the class, and I still dislike it. His tests have little to do with what he teaches but he does grade on a huge curve. Expect to read on your own because his outlines aren't helpful. Wastes a lot of time. Gives no other grades outside of exams. Gives extra credit for participation and attendance. He's nice, just not a good teacher.

Started to repeat himself in consecutive lectures and take up large amounts of class time on attendence. He has a good sense of humor, and his lectures started off good. He failed to lecture on most of the subject that you are essay question tested on twice. If you just like to read books, write papers, and never come to class you should take him.

run if you can. This man is horrible. he spent 30 minutes talking bout the tigers being #1 15 minutes on the roll another ten about him and his family and the last ten on the enormously long outline on the board. You will learn absolutely nothing inv this class but how to take roll how to tell ridiculous jokes by the way that are not funny and abou

He rambles & doesn't teach, gives pop quizzes to make sure you read the Viewpoints essays, & gives hard, crazy-specific tests. His outlines are not helpful. Lots of reading to make up for his lack of teaching and the textbook chapters are very long. But at least he curves his tests.

WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD!! RAMBLES A TON!! Spent 30 mins explaining how to take a multiple choice test. Gets sidetracked very easily. Rambled about and Ivy League school for 52 mins out of the 1 hour and a half class!! I never learned anything in his class. He never finishes the lesson so you have to figure it out on your own. Test are hard

Chumney is the best professor ever. Drawn directly from the lectures and readings, the tests are super easy. Chumney quickly returns all exams and papers with very helpful notes. His lectures are funny, informative and precise. The class was an easy “A†for everybody. I cannot wait to take him again. Take Chumney; you won’t regret it â€" I promise!

Chumney's class was one of the more difficult for me. It requires a lot of out of class studying, but if you're willing to do the work, you'll do well. The tests are very hard, but he grades on a curve, so most people end up doing well. If you have a heavy load, I don't reccomend taking this class. If your offended easily DO NOT take him.

He is a horrible teacher. He tends to get off the subject alot and he jokes are bot funny. Some of he jokes tend to offend people. The test are horrible. The questions are at least 2 paragraphs a piece so the means you can narely finish the test. I dreaded coming to class.

Awful. Requires discussion to earn maximum points, but then just tells students why their opinions are wrong and his are correct. Tests are ridiculously difficult, have vague requirements, and cover little from the lectures. Spends at least half of class talking about himself. Thinks he's funny; he's not.

I had Dr. Chumney for Civil War and reconstruction. Half of the class did very well, and half of the class did very poorly. The people who did well were the ones who di their work. The people who did not like Dr. Chumney were the ones who tried to cut corners. Heaven forbid a professor require students to crack a book and come to class...
