Jan is an incredible instructor! Very knowledgeable about her expertise, which is English/Medieval/European history. I thoroughly enjoy her in-depth, informative lectures. She's a tough grader on papers, however, usually has rough drafts and gives great feedback. You'll pass the quizzes if you read the material and pay attention to lectures.

I know the tags look daunting, but let me just say she is a phenomenal professor! She has night classes typically, so there's about 3 hours per week spent in class and she doesn't waste a minute. She is funny and caring and loves her subject. She is super helpful if you have any questions. Her courses are typically small.

Jan is a great professor who is passionate about European history, or more specifically, English History. I took her Intro to HistoryHIST1000 class in Fall 2010. She did a fantastic job of getting me on the right track to writing clearly and concisely. All of the other classes I attended (often two classes per semester) were brilliant.

Absolutely love Jan! She's a great teacher and clearly passionate about her job! There's 3 quizzes and a final throughout the semester. She gave us every single question on the quizzes and final beforehand so it was extremely easy to prepare for and get an easy A! She also helped me improve my writing because she gives great feedback on essays!

Wonderful teacher. She is very intelligent and I found her lectures very interesting. She is a bit tough on grading, but she is willing to help. She has some quizes with 5 or so questions that are easy if you actually read the books. I loved the reading material, she does a very good job at background information for them. Take her class.
