Comment:

I heard people in my class complain that she is tough to listen to since she's not the best public speaker. I think as a philosophy teacher that doesn't matter, she presents her ideas relatively clearly if you are able to keep attention. I don't think the assignments were very hard either, she doesn't care about grammar, just your ideas.

Comment:

One of my favorite professors at VIU!! Philosophy is a very tricky subject, but she explains everything so thoroughly and makes it interesting. The class is easy if you show up, and there's no reason to walk away wihtout knowing all the material. Janice is always friendly and helpful, and answers every question very clearly.

Class was interesting, I thought she had a good sense of humour and made a remarkable effort to engage everyone. Tests were harder than I expected, but if you go to class and read the text then there shouldn't be a problem. She can look grumpy, but she is actually fairly upbeat and approachable.

Excellent Professor. Thoughtful and intelligent, but does not suffer fools gladly! Come prepared or she will nail you to the wall and don't offer an opinion you cannot substantiate. She is witty and cutting. Under all that intellectual rigour she is really a big softie - ask her for help and she will give it.

Janice is ridiculously unorganized. She's a hard marker, and she demolishes your essays if you don't specify everything. Basically, you don't have to come to class if you read the textbook. She doesn't tell you anything that isn't already in there.

I really didn't enjoy the material but that was no fault of the professor. In fact, in spite of the boring material she did her very best to keep it entertaining. I though she was an excellent prof. and I'm signing up for another class with her in the fall.

This class was fine however she is a terrible teacher, if she doesnt like you, you might as well never take a class with her because you are not going to do well. SHe marks on her opinion rather than being impartial. I will never take another class with her!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Janice is very boring and unfair. She is not helpful and her exams are difficult. Also, she does not know the material she teacher very well. She plays favorites, so watch out if she doesn't like you!

She has a keen interest in the material she teaches. The course Philosophy 220 she teaches is an excellent elective. The workload is light, although students may not like the course if they don't have an interest in film.
