very understanding & kind but don't miss class, attendance is worth ALOT of your grade. The class is very boring and hard to follow. He doesnt use a powerpoint for notes & he is very monotone. A lot of quizzes, 2 papers & a final. He likes when you answer his questions but they don't make sense half the time. AVOID THIS CLASS!

Class is not mandatory, but you WILL be graded for attendance. You'll have a quiz almost every week over assigned readings (articles, no textbook needed). The quizzes are 4 points each and he sends you the quiz question for each article to prepare you so you know what to look for when you read them. 2 essays, easy as long as you do what is asked.

Ive never studied so hard in my life and still ended up with a B. We took 3 tests the whole semester and theyre not easy. I paid attention and went to every class and was still confused most of the time. No PowerPoints so you have to listen closely.

I took Professor Mitchel for Religions of the World. I was very interested at first, but lost that interest quickly. He is very monotone and hard to keep up with. He never uses a power point, which is hard to take notes and keep up with what he's saying. He is not very enthusiastic about the class, but he likes when you ask questions.

I took Dr. Mitchell for a esthetics and loved the class. I wish he would be more enthusiastic with his lecturing. He is very critical and participation is everything. He is very understanding, though, and will work with you if you need help/clarity on an assignment. We did not have any tests besides the final, just 3 long papers.

I'll start off with the positive: the subject was interesting. From there, it all goes downhill, starting with how dreadfully boring the class is. He's very monotone and condescending if people don't answer his confusing questions. His tests cover way too much material for an intro course, and the readings are very hard to get into. AVOID!!

Dr. Mitchell is a nice guy, but he is pretty mono-toned. He likes it if you ask questions during class, and he always gives the chance to ask questions before test. His test are pretty tricky though. If you stay after and ask him for help he will always help you. His homework is completion grades. I worked my butt off and I still made a B.

Took Phil with Mitchell. VERY mono toned. He talks 50 minutes with the same dull voice and blow my attention span out of the water. If I had some interest in that class it would have been better. Between the same voice pitch and my low interest level, the class wasnt enjoyable

I've taken Dr. Mitchell for three philosophy classes thus far. Logic, Religions of the world, and Ethics. I would have to say that he is a harsh grader on tests and papers, but his class is very informative and fun. He can be very dry, but I love him very much. If u have any questions he will love to assist you. Well worth time if you like to think

Dr. Mitchell is awesome. Class attendance isn't mandatory, but unless you're really good at learning things on your own time, you should probably go to class. His test aren't easy, but they aren't difficult either. Challenging is a good word. Notes are easy to take because he writes everything on the board. He's really helpful and kind. Take him.

He does know his material very well, but at some points he isn't very clear. He writes everything in chalk, so be prepared to listen and take notes. His first test isn't bad, but the 2nd and 3rd are difficult if you're not an expert on the material. Very traditional teacher, moderately hard material.

Mitchell knows his material very well and knows how to deliver it in a way that makes people think, which is what philosophy is all about. It's not an easy class. You have to pay attention and take notes. Mitchell may not be the most exciting teacher, but he teaches you how to think like a philosopher. Which is the point of the class.

If you can listen to a monotone lecture for 50 minutes three times a week, then his philosophy class is for you. Honestly, if he would just act excited about what he was saying, the class would've been much better. Also, you can sleep through class the last 2/3 of the semester and read through the chapters covered in the book and be fine.

Even tho you didnt need much education to get in to TECH some classes actually require knowing how to study and take notes. I got a B in his religions class and still feel he was an excellent teacher. Opened my eyes to more concepts than I could get out of the book alone. Avoid if your a slacker. Or learn something with the money you spend at ATU.

I would definitely suggest not taking him if you can avoid him. He makes his tests cover a lot of material and doesn't take many grades so if you do bad on one thing it's hard to raise your grade. If you have to take him, be prepared to have to work hard.
