Comment:

Quizzes every day. Tons and tons of reading every night. Do NOT take if you have a heavy course load. He can be very rude and arrogant, which is a huge turn off when youre graded on participation. In complete honesty, I hated this class more than any class Ive ever taken. I wished Id have a heat stroke walking to class, but sadly I never did.

If you have time to read something for every class, youre fine. He can be very rude and standoffish so its best to participate and get on his good side. Notes are oftentimes not posted, so if youre not there youre screwed. Theres a quiz every day online. Participation is required, its part of your grade. Be prepared to put a lot of time in.

I wish we had learned more about the Adobe suite in this course. Also, we spent a lot of time discussing readings with classmates. This was fine, but most material gained from these sessions was opinion. For that reason, I wish we had discussed with the professor. Overall, I learned some in this course, but not what I wanted.

Hated this class. I used to not wear my seatbelt on the way to his class just to hope I wouldnt make it lmao. Seems funny at first but is total d*ck. Makes you do discussions in class about what you read but doesnt put that in his syllabus. Doesnt even teach just makes you talk with each other. Huge liberal and likes to argue

Dr. Newberry is great. I loved when he told the story about his previous career as a CIA analyst who helped chase down a rogue Russian sub in the Atlantic. He helped me understand the importance of persuasive writing when he explained how he convinced the Joint Chiefs that the "Ruskie" (his term) sub commander was, in fact, defecting.

Dr. Newberry gives a lot of assignments. He usually assigns them a week before they are due. He has you read between each class and gives a pop quiz at the beginning of each class. He is a really great guy and he's hilarious. He genuinely cares about his students.

Dr. Newberry is by far my favorite English professor! At first, I thought I was going to hate his class because you do read a lot, but he gives you chance to make an easy grade if you do the work! Dr. Newberry is extremely pleasant if you are outspoken in class and will warm right up to you! :) If not, he will make it known to drop his class!

He's a good professor, but he assigns to much and expects a lot. He requires reading everyday and you will have a quiz every day. If he assigns something on D2L read it a month before the test! His test are tough but as long as you take notes in class and off D2L you'll do fine.

My favorite professor in my college career. You will read a lot, pop quiz almost everyday. Be prepared for class and you'll pass. Loves the subject matter and makes class fun. I never liked English class until now. Also a hilarious guy.

I love this class and this professor. Dr. Newberry is one of the best at the school. His class is all about getting to know your inner author/authoress. He likes a class that participates, a class that talks back to him about the reading and what they are writing. Just do the assigned readings and writings and you'll be fine.

If you love narcissism, this is your guy. This teacher will talk down to you in a class setting, but nice in a personal setting. The reading and the work is fine. It is listening to this man and trying to converse is where he will make you feel inferior. Very self-centered in his work and if you disagree, too bad, there is no free thinking.

Awesome teacher! Very easy to get along with, knows how to relate the material to students lives. Just be interested in the material and he will make it funnot boring. He loves to hear (Intelligent) feedback from his students, so if you actually engage in the conversations in class you should be good. All in all he's a good teacher & great guy!!

Newberry rocks and I would totally take him again. Don't miss class, read (there will be a quiz), and don't f-around. If you respect him and his class, he will respect you. Ask questions or go see him during office hours and he will bend over backwards for you.

Dr. Newberry is an awesome teacher! He i so passionate about what he is teaching he makes you interested as well! His class is a lot of work and very worth the while. I enjoyed all of his lectures and found that his class passes quickly because you enjoy the lectures. Take his class you wont regret it!

I have taken Dr. Newberry for Comp 1 and he has been my favorite professor this semester! He is tough, really tough, but if you really apply yourself, ask questions, and don't skip class, he is more than willing to help you! I would definitely take him again and suggest him to anyone. I've learned SO much from his class!
