The best math professor at Ohlone! Please take his class especially if you have to take higher math classes, you won't regret it. He's very helpful and easy to talk to. He's an amazing professor who will explain math to you in ways you never thought you would be able to understand. Work hard and you'll be happy with your grade in his class. :)

This professor does a very good job at helping students learn the material. I had him for Linear Algebra and as much work as he gave (yes he was hard on us), hardly anyone in the class got D's or failed the class. In addition, he has a very good sense of humor and is easy to talk to.

He helped me get back on track to a four year engineering degree after the slacking i did in high school. Hands down, the best professor in any subject ever. Every semester he will make appointments with you to check in on you as a person, and becomes more a friend the longer you stay in his classes. Changed my mindset on math completely.

Know every problem in the textbook, ask questions and you'll get a high B. Go to his office hours for clarifications, dig deeper into the material, and you'll get an A. He's good at explaining concepts but can be frustrating at times.

Professor O'Connell is the best math professor you could ever ask for. It wasn't the easiest class but he definitely has a great way of approaching hard topics. Definitely the most understanding college professor you'll ever encounter. Great communication and overall a very cool dude, took him last semester and I still stop by his office to say hi

Liked his lecture style, very enthusiastic and funny. Something else that's cool is that he'll give you access to some pretty expensive and sophisticated software to do math with and teach you how to use it. Can come in handy when finding a job. Won't give you ridiculous problems on exams, just do the HW honestly and you'll be fine.

Probably The best Math professor I've ever come across in life. Period. It's sad to know that he won't be taking any Math101b classes else I would've taken him for all of my semester's at Ohlone. He's caring, understanding and inspiring for all his students. He's a bit tough on grading when it comes to hw but he often gives extra credit on exams

Took a total of 5 classes with O'Connell. Hands down the best math prof at Ohlone. Main reason is he tests on quote "mastery of HW, not mastery of material". He believes CC profs should go easy on students. As for those who say he is rude, they just can't handle real talk. Ask questions, communicate, be a human, and you will earn his respect.

I took 4 Math classes was Professor O'connel. He was constantly rude to select students. He is more nice to the smart students who don't bother him with extra questions. and was nice to the students who ask questions. For some reason he would respond to their question in a very rude and embarrassing way when they ask about something they don't get.

O'Connell is one of the best math professors ever. This guy is DEDICATED and very clearly loves his job to no end. He works really hard to make every student succeed. He puts so much effort into his classes and students that if you don't do the homework, you will just feel outright selfish. 10/10 professor, highly recommended.

I absolutely hate math, but I really liked this teacher. I usually don't do good in math but I did pretty well in his class. If you do the homework, the quizzes and tests will be super easy for you and the mock exams are exactly like the tests. His lectures are long but he's a good guy and easy grader. I would take him again if I could.

Comment:

Prof. O'Connell is probably one of my favorite math teachers. His classes are always hilarious and engaging. He is very approachable and helpful. If you do the homework, the tests won't be hard. He really tries to make sure every student understands everything he teaches. I loved his class and would definitely recommend taking it if you can.

I took this in the summer and worked really hard, it was one of the toughest classes I've ever taken. O'Connell is a really good professor + he's funny. Practice tests + quizzes given. Lots of HW, usually go over a significant amount of problems in class plus he posts solutions later. I didn't do well bc of my own lack of ability not his.
