Comment:

Overall he was great! The class was pretty much just the online HW and quiz then a chapter test. The HW lab were pretty simple quizlet was helpful to have the vocab because that is a lot of the HW, so buy the textbook if you taking it online. The HW is based on the book the test are his notes. Just do the HW and read the book and notes & your fine.

Really sweet guy. Sometimes it can be hard to follow him, but don't be afraid to ask questions! Gives good examples & is knowledgeable. He's flexible when it comes to grading. Compared to the other lady who teaches this course, this is really your best option. 8 quizzes weighted equally. All the material are in his lectures so you have to attend.

He is definitely one of my favorite professors! He lectures are very relaxed and he makes it very easy to ask questions. I have him for 357 and he goes out of his way to help you with the material. I would highly recommend this class to all students!

Dr. Patton is wonderful! Very funny. Knows and loves his subject matter. All of his exams are taken from class lectures so you gotta go to class. But his lectures are enjoyable. He gives 8 mc quizzes and is generous with extra credit opportunities.

Really good teacher. He makes sure you understand the criteria he's going over in class. Class isn't mandatory but I would recommend going because most of the stuff on his tests he says in class. The text book isn't really useful.

Don't be afraid to ask questions. He will go out of his way to make sure you understand it. Attendance is not mandatory but it is key to passing quizzes. Teaching method is very is to understand lots of drawing of examples. A very down to earth teach

I took Dr. Patton last spring semester for Cartography and I'm taking US & Canada now, and I have to say, Dr. Patton is so full of knowledge it's remarkable. In Cartography we only had one test and a map project with presentation to show to what we learned throughout the semester. I highly recommend 357 or any other class he teaches.

Dr. Patton is a very nice man and is very clear in his lectures. As long as you can open your mind to science, he presents it in a very extraordinary light. I find myself interested in the fact that the study of earth and the universe is an actual profession. Go to class and you'll get an A.

Patton is very passionate about what he teaches and he knows that not everyone is interested in earth science, so he helps you out as much as possible with extra credit opportunities. As a GEO major, I definitely look forward to taking his classes in the future.

His class is lecture based so it can get boring.However, he really knows his subject and what he's talking about. Reading the book really helps when it comes to test.He offers extra credit which is 25 MC question and you need to be present in his class in order to receive them. Very informative!!!

he gave our class extra credit because everyone was failing. the extra credit was 25 multiple choice questions and answers that you make from your notes. You had to be present everyday in order to receive extra credit.

I hate science and hated this class! The test came from the lecuture...which was very hard to pay attention. Mr. Patton is very helpful and knows the information. He also is very good about giving extra credit!!

this prof made earth science amazingly interesting and also linked it to environmental concerns of relevance to everyone. I highly recommend his course. and I stand by my "hot" rating -- he may be on the old side, but he is cute!

Extremely knowledgeable and always willing to answer questions and help. He doesn't use a book in this class, which made attendence mandatory, but he didn't take role. He's a fantastic cartographer and had lots of great tips and techniques for creating maps that are easy to read and interpret.

His lectures are extremely boring and it is hard to pay attention to him. The book is pretty much useless in his class, because the tests are based on applying knowledge that you have "learned" from his lectures. If you go to him for help, he isn't good at reviewing, but will offer some kind of extra credit. I recommend getting another professor.

Pretty average professor. His exams are pretty easy, but honestly I was bored with the lessons. He gives extra credit, but you have to attend every class to get it.He has a very dull lecture style and sometimes its hard to listen to. Take this class if you have to, but he is not a fabulous professor by any means.
