You need to put in the effort to do well in his class. He cares about his students a lot so he will do anything to help you succeed. However, he will deduct points if you do not solve the problem the way he taught on open ended problems. Typically 30 multiple choice and 2-4 open ended on every test.

Comment:

I didn't like him too much. He's kind of cocky while teaching and very picky with grading on his exams. I once made a tiny mistake at the end of a calculation and he deducted all possible points for the problem. He assigns a lot of online homework as well, but is flexible with due dates if need be. If you fail all 4 exams, you fail the class.

I took College Algebra twice with him and luck is never on my side even when I tried tutoring. He might be a really nice teacher but he's a tough grader. He gives a lot of MyMathLab problems because he wants you to practice problems over and over. His exams always have 3 problems where you need to nail and show every step how you got the answer.

Okay I admit I HATE math, but professor Young makes is to easy there's no way you wouldn't understand it. He goes slow and makes sure everyone understands it before he moves on, he writes things on e-whiteboard, gives you definitions and rules to follow by. He's very enthusiastic, if u mess up answer he will work with you step by step. He rocks!

Young is a wonderful professor! He teaches all topics clearly and concisely. Young allows plentiful opportunity for asking questions during his lectures, and is always accessible out of class via email or office hours. He takes attendance EVERY class and Calc is hard, so the key to success is showing up. I would definitely recommend him.

Young is honestly the best math teacher I've ever had. He's absolutely hilarious and is always very thorough in his explanations. If he thinks someone is having trouble he'll take the time to work the problem through with them. I've recommend that all my roommates take his classes. He made Calculus my favorite class.

Not a fan of math at all but he is a great teacher and always willing to help if you're willing to put in effort. If you're prone to using you cellphone or being disrespectful then he's not the professor for you.

Rude and inconsiderate professor. Made exams and tests impossible to get an A. Constantly overloaded you with work and acted in a smart stuck up way. Never allowed any notes or cheat sheets! Treated everyone like a child and would throw a fit if you showed up late! Avoid Young!

Very disappointed with this class. Prof assigns book work but doesn't check it so book is optional. All homework assignments and quizzes are online (mymathlab, and there are plenty of them! Quick lecture style notes given during classes, and about 4 exams. Mostly M.C. questions. Does not give partial credit or extra credit assignments.

THIS MAN IS AMAZING. If you are not good a math and want to pass TAKE HIM NOW. If you listen to what he is saying, sit in the front row and pay attention you WILL pass. uses the text for homework but doesnt check homework problems. uses online testing once in awhile which sucks, but in class tests are easy. So helpful and nice.

I had him for calc I. He was very organized and very helpful. There are a lot of online quizzes and the homework is relevant. He goes over any questions you have. He also gives review problems out before the test. He's a nice guy who is very fair. He tries to make it interesting in his own quirky little ways.

Very good teacher. Made math easy with smart board and visuals. Nice guy. Asks you to participate but you don't have to.Very particular and organized. Gives you everything you need to know to get an A.
