This class lectures are just downright awkward. He randomly dock points with no explanation other than he wanted to. The living leprechaun knows the material but has a hard time conveying his knowledge to his students. His stories about taking acid are fun and his humor was pretty cool in a nerdish way. Take at your own risk; I'd take him again.

Took his class spring'12. He is not particularly warm and friendly, but he teaches the material. However, I often found myself referring to the book to answer questions. Amount of homework is minimum. Tests are long but he offers one page of notes with it. If you're hoping for a teacher to be really be there and answer all questions, he's not it.

This is far the greatest professor I've ever taken. Gives a lot of homework, goes over a lot of problems, tests are fair, and gives hints before an exam. This professor should get good ratings and I hope to take him again for Calculus III.

Does not really talk a lot but gives plenty of problems examples.Study guide for test are quiet similar to given tests.A lot of homework but not to bad considering that it was one class per week.So do not take him if you are not comfortable with math.

This man is horrible. I cant call him a professor because I learn nothing from him. If you ask a question he says you should already know that or makes a smart remark and makes you feel stupid. He should not be teaching. The grading system is seriously flawed. If you are no good at taking tests in math you will not pass this class.

I hated his teaching methods from day one. He doesn't understand the meaning of "teach". He is more comfortable disrespecting people than he is teaching and and answering simple questions in a respectful manner. He was by far the worst instructor I have ever had and gives new meaning to "if can't function in the real world..... teach".

He's a good intelligent teacher.Very fast &lectures a lot If not a math person he gives tips in class. take notes& copy all problems he works out on the board gives 3 midterms that are not mult. choice& are harder than the final allows 1pg notes & 2days before each midterm he goes over it in detail. If your lazy&dont want HW dont take his class

Very good, but hard teacher. His test problems are completely different from the homework, but he allows notes (still VERY HARD).Gives xc on tst, grades on a curve. Lectures are fast , so I suggest pay attention and do the homework from DAY ONE. I struggled with his class, but bc previous teachers had me spoiled.

Rieker's a smart guy with a cynical wit, but is the type of math prof. everyone dreads. He takes little time to explain concepts, seems to think everyone knows them cold, and can be condescending when a student doesn't. He is a regurgitator, not a teacher. Also, his homework expectations are criminally heavy-handed. Avoid him if you can.

Prodessor Rieker teaches from his own edification. He teaches from a perspective as though you should already undestand. Lectures at the board for two hours straight, and doesn't promote class interaction. Professor Rieker struggles with the ability to clarify certain concept to help you understand. And aAssigns a long list of homework.

Very hard teacher. I'm not a math fan, but I'm not a slow learner either. Just doesn't explain things very well, get ready to basically teach yourself with the textbook.

His lecture are not comprehensive, in order to do well in the class you have to read everything twice and learn every thing yourself, you might as well take an online course because going to class is a waste of time. His tests are also different than what you study in the book. Don't take this class.

A Stanford grad, this professor KNOWS his math. No doubt he is an 'intellecutal' which sometimes comes across as condecending...I don't think he means it that way, that is just his sense of humor and it takes a while to get used to. Give him the benefit of the doubt...most times he is teasing. Math wise, challenging...but you WILL learn it good.

This is honestly 1 of the worst classes I have ever taken in my LIFE!!!! I missed the last day 2 drop the class, but I rather have a F & retake it then go back 2 that classroom. U can't ask this man anything without him being a smart*** and he has a very dumb sense of humor. He is no help at all. Might as well take the class on-line.

If you love math and a whiz take his class if not don't bother. He ignores questions, jumps all over the place and its his way or no way which is unfortunate - its math everyone has different methods. Chasing bugs around the class to feed his cat wasn't fun either. If there is someone else teaching the same class/ time I would take the other
