Comment:

He was an awful teacher. Randomly yells in the middle of sentences, long awkward pauses. Listening to his lectures left me confused. When I just did the readings and didnt listen to him I actually did better on the tests. Just a bad teacher overall.

Joel is a strange one. His lectures are so friggin boring! attendance isnt manditory, and even if u do show up u will fall asleep. He randomly shouts and grades pretty hard. TESTS ARE INSANNNNNEEEE....very difficult. randomly calls on you in class...im happy that i just passed it so i never have to take this class again. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!

Comment:

Best professor ever. He tells you exactly what is going to be on the test a few nights before and makes the class fun by telling jokes and yelling out random things. He really does make sure everyone understands the material, I am not/or was not a classics major, but he treated me very fairly. He favors students that talk to him and participate.

I had him for Greek Tragedy class. He is a horrible professor. He grades the exams VERY hard. Not fair at all. He will do anything to NOT give you a perfect score. And if you do bad, he will tell you in front of the whole class to "meet me in my office, you did horrible" I was shocked. He also randomly shouts out things VERY LOUDLY. Bizarre guy....

Joel was one of the best professors I've had in my 3 years so far.His lectures aren't mandatory but I attended most of them simply because he was fun to listen to and I had some interest in the material.His tests are easy I read each of the readings once, normally the night or two before the test and got A's on all of them. You just have to read it

This is an amazing professor, he is incredibly knowledgeable of the course material and interesting to listen to. He tends to ramble, but it's usually fun to laugh about. His exams are easy although reading is required if you want an A. The class overall was incredibly enjoyable and easy to pass, just show up every so often. Awesome professor!!

He really favors the students whose major is in anything Greek. His test were not difficult if you studied and take notes, verbatum. Don't be surprise if he calls on you out of the blue, always do the reading, you never know when he will call on you. He has a perculiar sense of humor and makes the class fun, sometimes.

His test arent that hard, but it is hard to get an A or even a high B in the class if your major isnt Greek, or Theater. He deffinetly favors the students that he has had in class before. It helps to go to class, BUT ONLY if you have your book infront of you, and are reading along.

He is a overall good teacher and probably will give you more credit than you deserve...as a student. He randomly hits the table and blurt out words.He'll start talking in a sentence normal but will end up screaming... I think he has turrets syndrome. sometimes he'll express himself and say hi & bye in different languages but hes cool.

I like him a lot, very personable. He is very smart and interested in language, which helps a lot. The downside would be his tendency to get off the subject, not explain why thoroughly or explain why so thoroughly that you get lost and don't understand.

Take good notes during lecture if you attend - which you don't *have* to do. His tests are very specific, but not that hard. He blurts out words very loudy sometimes and slams his hand on the desk. Maybe a disorder? Don't sit in the front row. Read the text and only use SparkNotes as a guide, he know it exists and despises it.

Strange guy, tends to blurt out words and says the word balogna sausage alot. He reads off of some book during lectures (Not assigned text). You don't need to go to class IT IS A WASTE OF TIME. If you read the assigned texts the exams are an easy A. Also he has 4 essay exams (take home)easy also
