Amazing teacher, very funny guy. Extremely clear about what he expects from students. You don't need to buy the textbooks, he hands out his own on the first day of class. Buy his cd though, that helped me out alot.

Professor Ries was an excellent intro chemistry teacher. His self deprecating humor made class feel light and fun. His tests were appropriately on topic and sometimes challanging, just the way chemistry should be.

Professor Ries was quite good. His self deprecating humor and love of chemistry really added to the dynamics of class. At times, I felt he could have been more clear during lecture, but I really enjoyed his class! Labs were awesome.

If you've taken chem in high school, you'll have no problem with this class. Everything you need to know is in your lecture manual and whatever he writes in his manual, you write the very same in your printed manual. I studied off of the manual alone, never used the McMurry book, and I am guaranteed to leave the class with a 3.5 or above.

Mr. Ries is awesome. He makes chemistry interesting and fun. He's very matter of fact and if you do not attend or care about the work he's not going to hold your hand through it. If you put the effort in though, he'll return in 10x. Great teacher, great guy.

Very fun and energetic guy. He is a very good teacher and makes it fun for the whole class, a monkey could pass his chemistry class- beggining chemistry. He cares whether or not his students learn and provides plenty of helpful handouts as well as helpful hints and labs that you can take out into the real world and apply them.
