Woerpel is the best professor I've had at NYU and certainly is the best chemistry department prof. I liked but didn't love Orgo 1 but Woerpel made me love Orgo in his problem set lecture course! This over Jones ten-fold! Tests and quizzes are hard but fair.

Comment:

Go to office hours and do all recommended problems more than once. They help tremendously. Prof. Woerpel is always happy to help you improve (so reach out to him ASAP if you feel you're not doing well in the class!) and he will appreciate your progress. Exams are very fair without surprises. Not too hard to get an A

By far, Professor Woerpel was one of the best professors at NYU. Textbook use was not heavy, and all you need to do is stay focused in lectures and take good notes. If you just do the hw problems and keep up with class, you can definitely get an A.

I cannot emphasize how amazing this professor is. Seriously. Best professor in all of NYU. So passionate and dedicated.... hated orgo, but he made us all love the class. Please, do yourself a favor and take him if you can. You. Will. Not. Regret. It.

Woerpel..He is simply the BEST teacher ever! I had trouble with ochem throughout the year. Woerpel made ochem much "fun"-er. He uses a lot of analogies. His notes and handwriting are crystal clear. Tests are hard but fair. He's so sweet and if you need help just tell him. He will gladly help. He believes that his students will succeed.Ill miss him!

If you want to take the grad chem classes, you need to take this class. class is entertaining, exams seem to draw on the more obscure examples from the text. but is a great teacher. I don't know what i learned in that class besides arrow pushing

He is charming and funny, lots of jokes in class were memorable. makes ochem seem easy when it wasn't. midterms are similar to homework problems (which arent collected) and your grade is based solely on midterms and final. I thought he didn't give enough partial credit. If you want an easy grade, don't take him, you'll study to beat the mean.

This is the BEST professor I had ever had. He is incredibly intelligent, kind, and patient. Take him if you can. He's genius and super sweet. Reasonable midterms and final. He always says bless you when someone sneezes and there's like 400 students in the class. He is awesome and makes o-chem a lot less stressful.

Woerpel was great lecturer. He's pretty funny too, once in a while he'll throw out a joke during lecture. Problems from the Midterms and Final are based on problems from the book so make sure you do them. Your grade is based entirely on the midterms and final.

He's literally the Einstein of o-chem. He makes the material sound easy and effortless when he writes the mechanisms. However, this class is extremely hard, especially if you're not the best o-chem type of thinker like I was. If you're looking for an easy class, then look elsewhere. His quizzes were manageable, but his tests are downright reckless.

He is an amazing teacher who is extremely easy to listen to as well as easy to talk to. He is an absolute genius, and he is very encouraging as a teacher, I could honestly feel that he wanted me to succeed. If I had any problems at all, I never felt intimidated to talk to him...If he teaches any classes I will jump on them like a hobo on a hotdog

Hands down, the BEST teacher i've ever had at UCI. He is super sweet and really gets to know you, if you make the effort. VERY helpful! And his lectures are very clear and organized. He really connnects with the students and is able to use analogies to relate material to everyday life to make it easy. Definately take him if you can!!!

dr. woerpel is one of the greatest teachers i have ever had. he's so easy to understand and keeps a class like organic chemistry actually interesting. the weekly quizzes areproblems straight out of the book--easy points! the midterm and final were pretty hard, but the curve helped. highly reccomended!! p/s ladies--he's also very charming =)

A very very good professor. He made learning O Chem fun. He cares about students and tries to answer all our questions. He explains stuff clearly. Quizzes are easy if you study the questions he gives you. Tests are not easy, just about right. Study, understand and think and you will do fine. Got an A in this class. Highly recommended.

Probably the best science teacher i've had at UCI. extremely clear and extremely helpful. The tests are hard but if you really try you'll do well. Plus since the class is curved, the difficulty of the test is neglected. I highly recommend woerpel if you want to really understand o-chem, not just get an easy A.
