I took Fishbein. then registered for her classes three more times! She will teach you how to write, and inspire you to learn more than you thought possible. Do not be afraid of her! If you want to skate thru school and fail in the "real world" take an easy professor and and get your blessed A. If you want to REALLY learn & be inspired, take her.

Comment:

Fishbein is so great that I'm writing this after graduating 3 years ago. You'll learn a tremendous amount in any of the courses that she teaches. She is highly knowledgeable & is will take the time to sit down with any of her students. She gave me an extension on one of my papers. She is understanding and you won't regret taking a class with her.

For her Seminar class, the work involved was a culmination of everything I've learned since taking Intro to American Studies. She always made time outside of class was very invested in her students progress and success. I owe much of my graduate success to her too as she helped shape me into the student I am today. She's one of the best.

I am an alumna of Rutgers. Professor Fishbein was the most influential and mind opening professor that I had during my undergraduate experience. I highly recommend her.

You can tell that she wants you to be a better writer, but oh my gosh she works you like a horse to do so. Her class is quite dull (3 hours of quiet talking), heavy reading, and she tends to ramble for most of class citing examples from her childhood not many can understand. Overall not a good professor, very tough, high expectations. Do not take.

One of the best professors i've had the pleasure to have at Rutgers. Just go to class and take notes. Even if you don't do the readings the lectures give you all the information you need for exams. Very fair grader and shes always offering help for papers.

You will earn your grade in her class. Had her for both junior and senior seminar and while the American Studies Dept. has professors who will go out of their way to help you, she will bend over backwards for you IF you seek her help. She truly does care about her students but just a warning, do not take her if you're not looking to learn.

ok..I liked the class in the beginning. But towards the end I started to dislike the things she said...she referred to some ethnic groups as tribes..how can they be tribes when the slavs are not considered a tribed. She really pissed me off..she has to know what the f* she's talking about b4 she says it. I'm just venting but I have an 'A' so far.

Was my class ('93) the only one to feel the entire blazing blast of F's sarcasm and smug superiority? I sat paralyzed as she melted fellow students with her glare and snippy put-downs.I am outgoing but she shocked me into silence!Maybe it was her "time of life."Yet I did get all "A"s in her classes.

She is a walking encyclopedia. Her knowledge is endless. Can be a bit boring, but you can learn so much if you come to class and do the reading. After you take her class, your papers will never be the same. She teaches you how to write.

way too much work for a 1.5 credit summer class....but it was fun and i got an a ...my recomendation is take it if you like to learn but other wise it may not be worth your time... prof fishbien is nice but tough.
