Comment:

Mr. Lamar is a great teacher that gives students many opportunities to pass. We got extra credit and were even allowed to re-do tests. I didn't find his accent hard to understand. If you want to pass show up, study and do the homework. If you skip the class and don't work you'll be one of the ones giving a bad rating.

Comment:

Degrading, hard to understand, and an absolute waste of time. I had to drop out as he harassed me in front of the entire class, and I had to leave in tears. He then questioned me about it aggressively after I had left. Never, never take this professor. You'll regret it.

Professor Lamar really cares about his students and does all he can to help you pass. But of course you have to work for your grade! He gives a lecture in the beginning of each class to make sure his students understand the topic. As long as you do all the work and study with the practice tests you will definitely be successful in his class.

I took this course through ThE aleks computer program and although prof Lamar was a nice person he was confusing and I along with many others I the class struggled to understand him do to his strong accent .be prepared to work on the computer then be lectured for the rest of the class as he locks the computers

Professor Lamar wasn't my favorite. Although I did well in the class I was bothered by his rudeness toward struggling students. He was very degrading to those who asked questions or didn't understand, even though it's a remedial course. I learned through mostly ALEKS and felt that class was wasted time and an unpleasant environment.

Professor Lamar was a very helpful teacher. Almost every class he handed out a worksheet which covered the materials you needed to know. As long as you pay attention and actually do your homework, the tests are an easy A. It's actually quite difficult to fail this class with all of the help you get. He is a VERY good teacher and I'd take him again.

This teacher is not here to help his students. He has already dropped most of the class. We have only taken 2 test so far. Very hard to understand. Very rude. Does not like to answer questions. Passing the class only because of ALEKS. This teacher should not be aloud to teach a math class at this level. Mark's students absent without them knowing

This professor can be rude at times, and is not understanding of people who have family and other commitments. He also teaches some things differently from Aleks which is confusing. I found it best to ignore him as much as possible and focus on aleks.

Prof. Lamar is a fantastic and very kind teacher. He explains things very clearly if you listen! He helps you in class or during his office hours anytime you need it. I HATE math and I have completely enjoyed his class this semester and I have an A with only 1 month to go!

Professor Lamar is one of the best teacher I ever had. caring, helpful and honest. I felt that a lot of stundets were very discriminating just for the simple fact that he has an spanish accent. Most kids on this class are recent highschool grads and very inmature about college and society. They hate the fact that a hispanic speaking can be a eacher

This professor was a complete waste of time. He is very confrontational, I can't believe he is aloud to teach. I could not understand a word he said. He continuously makes errors while teaching so you have no idea what he is talking about. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS TEACHER!

Ok, i can understand how people hate math, BUT this teacher made ME hate math, & I'm going to BE a math teacher. Not only was it dull, but most of the material i had to teach it to myself, not good when someone has ADD. Very hard to understand, doesn't give much help.... The only reason i stayed was because the guys in the class were so cute!

First off i want to say, the whole accent thing does make him hard to understand, but its not his huge problem. The main issue is not explaining things well enough, this is a REMEDIAL class meaning many people will need more than one explanation, but what he does is flys over everything and if you ask a question he will be very degrading.

Yes, he has a thick accent, but you'll get used to it. I was placed in remedial math and was terrible at it in general. Prof. was extremely kind, patient, and helpful and tutored me during office hours. I Was pregnant/had my son that semester and he was very accommodating. I worked hard but I have had straight A's in higher level maths ever since.

He's a good teacher. He has an accent, so what. In the real world people have accents, learn to deal. I enjoyed taking math from him. People complaining here r probably the same who came late, talked over him and never made any serious effort. School is not always easy. I highly recommend him, he teaches very well.

Comment:

Mr. Lamar has a thick Accent!!! but is very Fair. Sit in front ROW (he loves that) and Do the homework, it helps, those are usually the quiz questions. Even if you do poorly on the Exams he will let you take a make up (each time)!! Gives extra credit as well, and he will pass you if he see's you really making an effort. Go to tutoringlab/or office.
