Comment:
Professor Manye was a wonderful professor for my final semester of Spanish at Furman, she is a native speaker of the language from Barcelona. There is a good amount of homework, in addition to some cultural activities, and LOTS of participation; however she only wants her students to succeed in speaking the language.

Profesora Manye is the absolute best! She is so enthusiastic about the language and this enthusiasm is really infectious. Her class is participation-heavy, so if you're shy I wouldn't recommend. But, her tests and quizzes are easy if you follow her study guide. Overall, one of my favorite classes/professors at Furman thus far.

Profesora Manye is the sweetest woman! She clearly cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Work is definitely manageable, and she gives good study guides for exams. She is very clear in what she expects so as long as you participate and do what she asks, you should come out with an A.

Great professor. Sra. Manye is very interested in her students and her subject. Not too difficult, but a great way to practice your speaking. I loved hearing about her Spanish upbringing.

Profesora ManyƩ was the reason I decided to complete a Spanish major. Her class convinced me of the utility and joy of language learning. She is fair, and like all teachers, appreciates and rewards class participation.

Very thorough teacher (a little nosy though). Spends lots of time in class talking in the target language and discussing Spanish culture. Know all irregulars. Super helpful if you put in the extra effort and come to office hours. Also offers extra credit if you do 5 of the culturally assigned activities. I would recommend :)

Manye has potential to be a great teacher, but unfortunately she doesn't teach the material before she assigns it. She then expects students to complete the homework without errors, despite the fact that she didn't teach it prior to assigning it. She also came to class late everyday, and let us out 5-10 minutes late because of her tardiness.

Her tests are very predictable (know your irregulars!) and didn't take too much prep. However, don't expect to learn much grammar in class. If you remember a lot from high school you are set. She's very good with the cultural stuff though. It's interesting to listen to her. If you are fine mostly teaching yourself grammar then you should be good.

Assignments are clear. Likes participation (15% of the grade). Tests are basic and come exactly from what was covered in class. No oral exam. Very few essays. If you study and understand what is gone over in class, you'll be fine. There are no surprises.

The homework length was very fair, and it wasn't just a bunch of busy work. The tests were challenging, but if you study the homework and understood the material it was fine. She always has some culture stuff on the exam which helps if you are good at memorizing. There is no oral examine, but speaking up in class is a must.

If you don't participate, you will not do well. If she mentions anything about something being irregular, it will be on the test. She is really happy all the time and enthusiastic about learning and teaching. I would take her again

UGH. I hated this class. SO demanding, met too often to get all of the reading done-- incredibly incredibly picky and unhelpful when I went to speak to her about test material. STAY AWAY. Not a fun professor. Critical. She even found things to criticize about a fellow student who was a FULBRIGHT candidate to teach Spanish. Ridiculous.

Nice and enthusiastic. You can lose a lot of points on exams for ticky tack things like accents. Fair. Be ready for irregulars. PARTICIPATE! I would take her again.

Fun and exciting class. She is a little biased on her participation grade. Tests are very detail-oriented. It can be frustrating how many points one can loose for a missing accent or some other minor flaw. I wouldn't avoid her though when choosing classes.

AMAZING! Professor Manye is one of the best teachers I have ever had at Furman. She is a wonderful person and will spend hours talking with you outside of class if you need it. If you work, class is super easy
