Marc Van Wormer is by far the best professor I've ever had in college. He is very clear on everything. There is a lot of reading and some of the stuff is confusing but his study guides make it very easy to understand. He graded very fast and always was able to get in contact with. He is very smart, knows his stuff, and great humor! GREAT TEACHER!

Incredibly interesting, he knows his stuff. Essays are easy enough. LOTS of reading, use the books, also use wikipedia after you have read. Some test questions are more his opinion of the themes, so read his outlines. I took the class online. He is always checking his email too, got a response in less than 20 min every time. Nice guy, very old

This professor is very old school, but he's interesting and knows how to take a joke. To be honest he kind of likes a smart mouth if it's an intelligent one. Not when directed at him, but when put in your writings. Honestly it was a very easy class for me and I'm glad he was my professor.

Excellent teacher! Requires a few books for reading material, but not overly expensive. He is extremely knowledgeable on this topic and is super helpful. He will have no problem meeting with you if need the extra help. I found his study guides very helpful and humorous. I would definitely take another class of his anytime!

Very Nice! will listen to your point of view and will go out of his way to help you. SUPER Knowledgable, I took the online class and only read the study guides, no textbook and got a 4.0. try to discover the themes he deems important, and put your own philosophy to it for the essay, support with quotes= 4.0. Instructions can be confusing thoug

A very knowlegeable fellow in the area of history and the humanities (clearly despite his lack of a doctorate, he paid attention at MSU). Unfortunately, lacking in the humanistic touch and a sense of the droll.

I really enjoy having Professor Van Wormer as an instructor. He enjoys teaching and makes it pretty interesting. He is more then willing to help with any questions that you may have and explains everything in a way that is both understandable and relatable.

Took this class online and found that some of his study guides didn't make much sense or were confusing when it came to instructions for tests. There wasn't much intereaction throughout the course and he took forever to send back tests. Take it if you want something short and to the point.

After he took ed ballards spot (which ed missed 6 classes of) Marc expected us to write a 3-5 page essay (in class) for part of a test. I don't think he understood that missing 6 classes has an effect on how much information you know on a subject. He has the same monotone voice as Ben Stein (Clear Eyes commercial) very freaking boring.

I took his class about 6 years ago. This prof has the most monotone voice I've ever heard (think Ben Stein in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"). Do not take a class from him at 8:00 AM! I had to drop after only a few weeks because I just couldn't stay awake!

This guy's pretty funny, but his jokes are the exact same in his study guides as what he tells in class! He's super smart and really knows what he's talking about, but he definitely gets off subject a LOT. Most of his essays are easy as long as you know something about the material.

I took the online course in the summer, it was condensed so the reading was about two hundred pages a week but if you understand the material and remember what you read you will do fine. Previous knowledge helps.
