This professor doesn't teach well. He lied about giving us grades on certain assignments, canceled class numerous times, his testing format only tests on algebra, he lies about what is on the test, puts problems on the test that no one gets right, and refuses to answer questions about tests already taken until near the final.

Comment:

Extremely tough. Random, arbitrary point docking on tests (very little partial credit). He straight up lies about point opportunities and what material will be on the test. Failed to teach fundamental concepts (then tested on them). DO NOT TAKE. He'll kill your grade and you wont understand anything about thermo afterwards either.

He takes forever to grade homeworks and quizzes in Thermo. He seems to be friendly but rips you a new one when he grades exams. About half of your final grade comes from multistep problems that you get no credit for if you make one mistake (no partial credit). Wild, arbitrary grading system for partial credit (the other half of your grade)

I had barker for ENGR 121 and 122, and I've gotta say I love the man. He's nice, helpful, and an overall cool guy. He's bad at chemistry, so I wouldn't recomend him for 121, but he's great at thermo and stuff, so definitely take him for 122. He's a really good teacher for freshman engrineering students to have, at least.

Not a great teacher at all. Grades hw strictly and only for a few problems. Takes off points for nit-picky stuff. He can be a nice guy, but if you catch him on a bad day or ask him the wrong question he is an ****. Take Barron for Thermo!

Ok teacher. Sometimes doesn't explain everything completely, so study ALL your notes. Doesn't grade hw, tests, or projects quickly. He is a nice guy in class, but watch how you phrase your questions. He isn't always the most helpful.

Barker is the man! Funny as hell, nice, helpful, doesnt through a curveball on tests (at least in this class). Is a stickler on lab reports but he tells you oportunities to redo them his way. Overall an excellent proffesor

Dr. Barker is awesome!!! all it takes is paying attention and actually going to class.... those of you who don't like him and failed probably had a bad attitude and were big babies and probably shouldn't be an engineer!!! Dr. Barker kicks some serious butt!!!

Very hard class if you are taking him for Thermo. His HW is ok and solution manual helps if you can find it. His test are nearly imposible though. My test went from 78 to 71 to 64 and then I got a 94 on the final which gave me a B for the quarter. Take him but beware, it IS NOT EASY

I liked him a lot in 121, so I took him again for 122. It was a different story this time around. He turned into a dick between quarters or something. He's a great lecturer if you can digest his overdone dry humor throughout the entire class, but he's a little steep on homework and grading.

Makes the class way harder than it actually is. I took other thermo section's tests for practice and did very well demonstrating I knew the material. Unfortunatly, I did poorly on tests which indicates that he intentionally does his best to give tricky tests. No one in the class did well at all. Dr. Barker is a mediocre teacher at best.
